The Problems of using an Automated Ban System

Hey guys (and hopefully Rioters too)! So yesterday I had a particularly bad game as Fiora. Like really really bad. BUT, despite me playing poorly, I never gave up! I tried my hardest to still win the game by helping our Hecarim (who did even worse than me, check the damage logs!) gank every lane constantly so that our bot lane could get fed. I even bought completely normal items the entire game and didn't spend a second of the game AFK or anything. To my surprise, however, I logged into the game today to find myself met with a 14-day ban due to one single instance of me doing bad. Of course, this happened because our Brand kept spamming in chat (and only Brand, this is important) that I was feeding. And obviously, when you're mad at someone for doing bad, you want your whole team to report them. I guess I didn't expect to actually get banned because of this though!

As someone who's played League since season 1 and never even had any sort of suspension or chat restriction once, this is REALLY surprising. For a company that got rid of the tribunal because they didn't trust their players to realistically judge the system and replaced it with an automated system that doesn't even always work, this is crazy. Plus, I just bought the snowdown pass and now I won't even be able to complete it thanks to this! "But maybe you're just lying to get Riot to unban you, you really are a dirty feeder!" you might say, but just take a look at those stats.

I had the second highest damage on my team. Yet I still fed? This is just ridiculous and partly infuriating, because now my $10 is going to go to waste due to a faulty automated banning system. Hoping someone from Riot can see this and give me an answer, and maybe if I really was feeding I can have explained to me what exactly about my game play was feeding.

Thanks guys, and have a great weekend.

Of course you had the second highest damage, you threw yourself at the enemy over and over failing, losing the game for your team, making the enemy stronger; while your poor team was just trying to have a fun game.

What good is second highest damage when you have almost double the deaths? Math.

Stats are never clearly indicative of intentional feeding. There's about 4 straight deaths that occur after 4 minutes where you abandon top lane and fight enemies in turret range. I feel like those were intentionally feeding and likely triggered your suspension. There were also other very questionable decisions, like going in alone, or splitting when the enemy has baron and is heading towards your base.

Since you were naming and shaming, I removed the images of your match history.

I really feel like first time punishments are way too harash. Even 10 game chat restrictions with the new honor system feels like shooting a baby who's trying to put the square block in the circle hole. Riot should probably rework and tune up their feedback system cause I see lots of evident guilties go unpunished and lots of innocent or mild offender get punished severally and constantly.

I mean there are ways to play defensive enough so that 20 deaths doesn't happen.

20 deaths in 31 minutes? that's moar feed than they serve up @ the #buffet @ the Bellagio! Have you considered a career as a waitress?

Watching the replay, your death at 5:03 was 100% blatant inting. As was your death at 6:51.

People like you are why so many people on this board automatically assume bad intent when they see a thread like this.

After 2-3 deaths I would of just wait under tower for the enemy laner to push the waves to me. What I would do at that point is split push because your not going to be able to help your team any other way.

I don't think the issue with the system is so much that it's automated. I think it's more the deference Riot seems to give to it. Especially in cases of intentional feeding, it seems like the automated system is considered correct by definition, and no human oversight is even allowed.
