Emotes are only used to be toxic

I'm so sick of emotes and how they are used. I know you can mute them but remembering to mute them every game is impossible.

In this feedback post riot talked about potentially adding an opt out button for emotes permanently and I would like to see this implemented. I have never seen emotes contribute positively to my experience. Nor would I ever use emotes to taunt another player doing poorly.

TL;DR All I want is an OPTION to permanently mute emotes as they don't contribute positively to any of my games.

Having the ability to completely shut them off would be nice, yeah. They're not important for any decision making or shot calling, so might as well just let us permanently silence them. I personally don't have a problem with them, but I can understand why they might be tilting for some players.

Funny how people in this post are okay with using emotes in a toxic way, but if you did the same thing, but in chat, every1 would be like "OMG THATS TOXIC REPORT!111!!!"

I have no issues with emotes, but you can't deny that they can be used in a toxic way. And isn't toxicity something PB hates the most?

Yea I love the super passive aggressive thumbs up pings. Those are great. Riot talks a lot about toxicity but they are the ones that enable all of it.

I often use emotes as a "cheers" for a teammate who made a good play, also see others doing that.

If you get offended by banter emotes you just need to grow up. It's not toxic, it's you being a crybaby.

I like emotes, they bring another dimension to banter.

Only emote I ever use is the Mastery badge. Typically only when playing Shen, and only after I just turned a 2v1 or 3v1 gank against one of my laners into a double or triple kill FOR my laner.

Just so the enemy players AND my laners know whose work that was.

So yeah... I concur with the OP. I only ever do it to be toxic.

I have actually never seen emotes being used toxic, but I have emotes bubble off and enemies fully muted, so the only emotes I see are the ones in my champion vision. However I think it is really terrible idea to even create emotes that can be used in a toxic way, it is almost says : "hey, here is one more way to flame".

how else could emotes be used? i think being toxic with them is their main purpose

I've seen lots of people using the emote of the Poro patting the other Poro when a teammate helps them out.

idk about you... but every time my jgler pulls a gank and gets a kill, or gives me a blue buff, or a supp saves my life with a cluch shield or something, il give em a nice lil m'pengu and a "ty gj" in chat :)

I can see this being widespread in PvP, but in bots emotes are frequently used in a non-toxic manner (celebrating a close call, showing off emotes, etc.).

Netorare1/27/2019, 6:15:27 PM2 votes

Oh look, now emotes are toxic... Thats fucking bullshit, i swear these snowflakes always find a way to make something toxic...smh

OP missed multiple skill shots only to be met with the Fizz ¯ \ _ (ツ) _/¯ every time

Some emotes are made for the sole purpose to annoy the enemy. The same thing applies to champ specific emotes (Laughing, Dances, recall animations). It adds more rivalry to the game and depending on how your opponent reacts to them, it could completely change the game.

There is an option to mute Enemy Emotes in the Menu under Interface.
