The ban system, the thin-skinned and the ban-happy.

So in advance, I'm typing this whilst thoroughly sauced, but after the last few matches, I felt an urge to finally speak up(though I highly doubt I'm the first to do so, much less the last/the only to be voted down into the negatives).

The stance on banning players is, ultimately, utterly laughable and pathetic. Pathetic in the sense that it takes little more than a 'fuck you', or 'you piece of shit' to get, at worst, a ban; or at least, a several-game chat restriction. Oh no, this player, whom knows nothing about me and is a part of a game that is -highly- competitive, one that is bound to give way to irritation and aggravation; said something negative, or something I don't agree with! REPORT, REPORT, REEEE, SECURE MY SAFE SPACE

Fuck off. RIOT team or those that worked on the ban system; this algorithm is a shit-tier mess. If anything, banning one over textual hostility/anger is downright shallow. Oh no, someone insulted. Oh no, someone threw out a slur or something derogatory. Piss off, grow a spine, thicken your skin up, then come back to the game. Now, if someone was cheating or using third-party programs to give themselves an advantage; yes, ban away. But over textual words? From a complete stranger that knows nothing about you? Whom may or may not have had a bad day? That you're completely free to mute and ignore for the remainder of the match?

Mind you, this is, in no shape or form, my way of excusing what I've said/done. I own up to it. I readily accept it. Because fuck you, aggravation and tempers flaring up is a part of human nature; and trying to stifle it or ban it will only further exasperate things. You think a perma-ban or the threat of such will stop players and their aggression over a highly competitive game from flaring up? Absolutely not. If anything, we'll likely take it as a challenge to keep on pushing and textually all-caps REEEing. Anything short of an IP-Ban(which mind you, is easily enough worked around), and we'll be back within the hour. If you don't like it? Shit talk back. It's a great way to relieve stress. Especially if you wind up dominating the other player in-game and curb-stomp their lane.

As the saying goes, if you can't take the heat, get the fuck out of the kitchen. Your whiny, white-knight, brown-nosing, report happy ways are ultimately more obnoxious than any toxicity in and of itself. You give off the impression you are better than those that're deemed 'toxic', when in fact, you ranting and raving about how you'll report us, and get us banned, makes you no better, if not worse. You, who are report happy and so flimsy as to be rustled by textual animosity, ride upon a digital high-horse. You let yourselves be increasingly weak and petty, so eager to report over even the smallest hint of animosity or hostility.

To the RIOT team, to the team behind the banning algorithm, and to the players who feel so obligated to shed their internet justice-warrior tears and go on a report-happy spree -- fix yourselves. Develop a thicker skin. Shit talking is a part of all competitive games. Irritation, flared tempers and anger is a part of human nature. Attempting to suppress that is utter fucking folly. Not in reality, where there's a time and place for anger to rear its head. But in a game? A fucking G A M E? Holy weeping, creeping jesus Christ. League truly is becoming increasingly shitty.

Vote into the negatives as you like. This will be my first, and only post, either way. No real difference to me.

fix yourselves. Develop a thicker skin.

It is not the victim's job to change. It is the job of the one who is ruining the game experience of the other.

Lol. People like you give conservatives a bad name.

Wanting a clean battlefield isnt a left only thing. Im about as far right as its possible to get and i still think that telling someone they are shit deserves a punishment.

Who cares if its a competitive sport. Harrasment isnt allowed in any other sport why should it be allowed in leauge?

Develop a thicker skin.

Why don't you get a thicker skin so the punishments won't bother you any more?

The stance on banning players is, ultimately, utterly laughable and pathetic. Pathetic in the sense that it takes little more than a 'fuck you', or 'you piece of shit' to get, at worst, a ban; or at least, a several-game chat restriction.

That's objectively not true. The system targets consistency. It's forgiving of you being human and slipping up a game or two. On top of that, if you have a 'clean' account, the only thing saying 'fuck you' or 'you piece of shit' will get you is a chat-restriction. That's the majority of cases. Most people are rational and realise after being warned that their behaviour isn't acceptable. Some other (also rational) people might think "I don't have to agree with the rules to play by them'.

But irrational people don't do either and become assholes.

To get banned you have to be an asshole consistently, with very few exceptions.

Oh no, this player, whom knows nothing about me and is a part of a game that is -highly- competitive,

Just because a game competitive, doesn't mean you get to belittle others. And if you really cared about competitiveness then you wouldn't be toxic because toxicity is tilting. Tilt loses games.

one that is bound to give way to irritation and aggravation;

Have some self-control. You're crying about people being pathetic, but you can't even refrain from flaming because of some irritation and aggravation.

said something negative, or something I don't agree with! REPORT, REPORT, REEEE, SECURE MY SAFE SPACE

Luckily the amount of reports doesn't matter anymore. You could be reported a 1000 times, but if you didn't do anything against the rules, you'd never get punished.

"Oh wow these people sure are pussies. I'll go to boards and cry about how unfair it is I can't be mean to people in a video-game."

Now, if someone was cheating or using third-party programs to give themselves an advantage; yes, ban away. But over textual words? From a complete stranger that knows nothing about you? Whom may or may not have had a bad day?

The 'I had a bad day' argument is useless. What if the person you were flaming ALSO had a bad day? You just made it even worse.

And what if the person playing was seriously medically depressed. What if they just wanted to play some of their favourite game and you come along and you come along and rub in their face how useless they are?

That you're completely free to mute and ignore for the remainder of the match?

I quote one of my favourite metaphors of all time:

They should not have to see your toxicity to begin with.

Living next to a fire hydrant is not an excuse for an arsonist to set your house on fire. The existence of a damage mitigation feature does not justify the damage.

(From Chermog)

Mind you, this is, in no shape or form, my way of excusing what I've said/done. I own up to it. I readily accept it. Because fuck you, aggravation and tempers flaring up is a part of human nature; and trying to stifle it or ban it will only further exasperate things.

75% of people improve their behaviour after recieving a chat-restriction

Seems like part of human nature is also the ability of self-control.

You think a perma-ban or the threat of such will stop players and their aggression over a highly competitive game from flaring up? Absolutely not. If anything, we'll likely take it as a challenge to keep on pushing and textually all-caps REEEing.

And doesn't it show more about you, than the punishment system. The fact that you're willing to waste so much time, JUST so you can annoy a few more people.

Anything short of an IP-Ban(which mind you, is easily enough worked around), and we'll be back within the hour. If you don't like it? Shit talk back.

You speak as if we're emotionally damaged from your flaming, and that's why we ban you. In reality, most people aren't. You're an intentional annoyance. Annoyances are dealth with.

I'll just not lower my chances of winning a game, and instead just mute and report you.

As the saying goes, if you can't take the heat, get the fuck out of the kitchen. Your whiny, white-knight, brown-nosing, report happy ways are ultimately more obnoxious than any toxicity in and of itself.

People being report happy is only annoying towards people that are toxic.

You give off the impression you are better than those that're deemed 'toxic', when in fact, you ranting and raving about how you'll report us, and get us banned, makes you no better, if not worse.

Exactly, which is why calling for reports is a punishable offence. It's SUPER toxic so it won't cause you to get banned on it's own but, as many other things, it can contribute and accumulate untill one day you get a punishment.

To the RIOT team, to the team behind the banning algorithm, and to the players who feel so obligated to shed their internet justice-warrior tears and go on a report-happy spree -- fix yourselves.

"The problem isn't me- it's everyone else."

But in a game? A fucking G A M E?

Exactly. A game. So why do you feel the need to be toxic again?

More negative votes than actual criticism/input. What a total surprise! /sarcasm

As you said, you're not the first person to write a post like this. It's just alot of opinions with very weak arguments behind them.

You have the exact same arguments as alot of other posts, and they're all equally easy to counter. I guess people didn't see the need to explain themselves once again. But i'm what you'd call a Certified Riot Whiteknight so i'll do it anyways.

So people should be able to say anything they want because because it is a competitive scene with an official (game servers recording things). Yet most of the time triggering these people to go off are people having a bad game (more likely than the troll claim). Sorry people have different varying levels of skill and might get fucked in a match?

When you mix people of varying skill, yes frustration will most likely ensue. But even in real life situations, if you do the same in front of an official that can clearly hear you, will be consequences.

There is trash talking (which is fine) and talking like trash. Maybe should learn the difference.

Love hearing the safe space argument. Makes me have a right ol chuckle. People apparently want a "safe space" for others be civil in a game; while those going "zomg safe space snowflakes." want a safe space to be toxic in.

Oh. I only report for Hate Speech and Encouraging Self Harm, the zero tolerance shit. Surely you can agree even that is too far.

The ban system, the thin-skinned and the ban-happy.

The weak-willed, the unnecessarily negative, and the delsional

Toxicity makes games less enjoyable. It's a game, the whole point of it is to have fun. If someone is too busy starting arguments or spewing acid at their teammates , or they're distracting their teammates in doing so, then they've got to go.

Sorry dude, like I know it sucks to get punished and all, but at the end of the day you were punished for your behavior, not for other peoples' sensitivity.

EvilDustMan4/4/2018, 9:20:54 PM1 votes

Because.

You are.

Annoying.

It is annoying to play with someone who won't stop flaming.

Rëformèd4/5/2018, 6:05:50 AM1 votes

yea i recomend not playing this. The players cant even handle a graind of heat and just start crying like little bitches go to other games personally i went to fortnite altough i dont trashtalk its not as competitive and really eases your mind

Oleandervine10/17/2018, 9:24:48 PM1 votes

The intense irony here is how thin skinned the OP is that getting banned for being an asshole has triggered him so much. You can't really blame other people for being thin skinned and sensitive when your little rage outbursts and rants on the forums show just how thin skinned and sensitive you are too.

Lol the ban system on principle is just wrong. But it doesnt really affect me, as i dont give a shit about peoples skill level at video games, or what some anonymous stranger says to me. So i just find it hilarious. I enjoy it. Its entertaining to see all these kids who grew up on the internet, where theyve decided its okay to throw integrity out the window because of anonymity, and act like complete monsters to eachother, get bit in the ass for their petty bullshit. Yeah, you cant actually be a complete douchebag to other people in league. Sorrrryyyyyy. I love it. Their tears of utter frustration when their accounts get banned... their train of logic as to why theyre innocent. Their entitlement being shoved up their own asses. Its all hilarious to me and its the only reason i use these boards when im bored at work. Yes, it is wrong. But its kind of funny and it doesnt affect me either way, so i dont care.
