Ideas for chat, and how the league of legends community can save the toxicity problem.

So, first things first, ideas for chat, This would help the toxicity problem quite a lot actually, considering 90% of the time when someones chat restricted, they arnt toxic, because they want to save their chats for something actually useful, so, how about you allow players instead of being permanently banned, and all of their hard work on their accounts being lossed, allow them to take a permanent chat restriction, so they can never type in all chat, and cant be really really really toxic because they can only type around 9 times, like youll get the occasional "OMG YOUR SO BAD" but thats why theirs a mute button [slayer-jinx-catface]

2nd thing, how we the players can save the toxicity problem, considering riot isn't doing jack to even attempt to save it, we can all group together and help toxic players get better, and instead of reporting them whenever they call us bad or garbage, merely say, i dont appreciate you saying that and mute them, like a decent human being, people just dont understand where toxic players are coming from because they most likely have never felt the same way as them, personally when i got my first account permanently banned, i wanted to kill myself, like that was all my hard work, i really love this game, but i was pretty toxic and called people autistic because they were either really bad at the game, or really new to the game, and its not right to call someone autistic, and if toxic players do say that kind of thing, then, i feel like yea they shoofuld be reported, but there should be a fine line, from whats toxic, and whats merely just a tilted competitive player. say your 2/5, and your top laner whos in master promos calls you garbage, you really are gonna report him for that and attempt to get his account banned? like its 2019 guys, why do we want other players to feel like shit when they get perma banned?? why dont we just use the tools we have that riot has given us, aka /mute, its a competitive game competitive people are gonna play it, so you can't stop people from occasionally tilting because they want to win, and losing in a game makes them tilt, asmongold made a video on his mental health, and he explains how, hes a gamer, and hes a very sore loser, but also a sore winner by bragging as much as he can, but then when he loses he wants to cry and stuff, most toxic players feel the exact same way, if they lose or get their account punished for calling someone bad in a competitive game where they got tilted because they were trying to win they just feel so terrible about it, instead of contributing to the player merely making a new account and ruining the experiences for newer players who dont know how to deal with it, how about, we just draw a line between toxic, and someone being tilted in a competitve game, i dont want anyone to sit here and hate on this thread just because they dont agree, im just throwing an idea out there on how, we can stop people who are competitive compaired to how people are like actually toxic and continuously telling people to kill themselves and telling people they are autistic, and i understand calling someone bad or garbage is toxic, but it shouldnt be sooo terrible just to get someone banned, in a online competitive video game. The only way that we can save the toxicity problem is by banding together, and helping toxic players, not putting them down and making them even more angry, we need to tell them that we are here for them and we understand where they are coming from, and i hope that all of you guys can feel the same. considering 90% of the time when someones chat restricted, they arnt toxic,

Gonna disagree with this one. Yes, not everyone begins the match with ill intentions but that doesn't change the fact that people still break the rules. Regardless of the context, you don't get to treat someone the same way they treat you and then get off scott-free.

allow them to take a permanent chat restriction,

Permanent chat restrictions have led to players griefing other parts of the game, such as stealing CS, following junglers and taking their camps, and intentionally feeding.

If someone really wants to be toxic, they don't need the chat to do it.

2nd thing, how we the players can save the toxicity problem, considering riot isn't doing jack to even attempt to save it,

I'm really tired of seeing this argument from people. How exactly is Riot going to "save the toxicity problem?" Moreover, why do they have the be the ones to stop it? They put a ruleset in place and have messages like "Hate speech has no place in League" all over the place, yet people still do it.

At what point does the community take responsibility for their actions?

tell them i dont appreciate you saying that and mute them, like a decent human being,

And if you do that, the person will most likely go back to being toxic because they just won't care. It takes punishment to enforce the fact that behavior like this isn't possible. Can a polite hand reach some people? Yes, but those cases are few and far between.

people just dont understand where toxic players are coming from because they most likely have never felt the same way as them,

I have actually been permabanned before, so I fully understand where toxic people are coming from. Even if I wasn't banned before, being angry at a video game doesn't give you the right to tell someone else to kill themselves or rip into others for making mistakes.

why dont we just use the tools we have that riot has given us, aka /mute, its a competitive game competitive people are gonna play it

I'm a hugely aggressive, competitive player in any game that I play.

I can still control myself and act maturely. A mute button isn't an excuse for others to treat you like dirt.

and i understand calling someone bad or garbage is toxic, but it shouldnt be sooo terrible just to get someone banned

That on it's own isn't enough to warrant a perma ban. It takes multiple offenses to escalate to a permanent ban.

Suggestion 1: has been tried before in the past and simply resulted in gameplay toxicity instead. "Then ban them for gameplay toxicity" takes longer and is harder to detect. Why give them the chance?

Suggestion 2: Why is it solely up to us to take responsibility for their actions? After getting a penalty you should realize "I need to chill the fuck out. What did I do and how can I improve?" I got a single warning back when those existed; which honestly could have been taken with a grain of salt since that was based on # reports and not # of valid reports. After that warning I took a small break and realized constantly calling team idiots and stuff wasn't actually helpful. Bottling isn't good so I would verbally say stuff irl if I got upset, i.e "Why the fuck? That was stupid."

Dear lord buddy. Can you split up your posts in paragraphs? It's so hard to read.

you just repeated the 2 things spammed here by ppl who get banned

first one did not work riot tried it but it did not

2nd one should have been asked for the flamer not the flamed guy, imagine being 2/5 and you are in your promos and ppl start calling you garbage when you are trying your best to recover your bad early lemme tell you this its more shit to get flamed over bad games then it is to flame over your loss, if those who flame dont like to feel shit of a perma then they should stop making others feel shit over their games,

and the (you can mute or tell them to stop!) i do that but also will report you wonder why? because i dont want flamers in my games. and every thing you said can be said to the person who getting flamed, competitive game? did you know flaming help your team lose? be positive to your allies if you wanna be competitive getting tilted because you are losing? did you know the guy you flame is already tilted as hell from their bad start.. and most likely will end up with a flame war that harm both players performance and draining the chance of the whole team of winning.

dont shift the blame to the victims and dont act like the toxic player is a victim because theres 3 warning before hand that tell you to stop.

dont get me wrong but a lot of those who flame never stop they keep flaming for the whole game even without saying kys or 0 tolerance word they still are very toxic and most likely like that everytime someone miss up a little.

you dont get banned if you flamed a little once in a while but a lot of banned accounts do that a lot making a lot of players games unfun, theres a line between getting tilted once and being tilted 100% of the loses

If someone flamed even a little and got an insta chat ban things would improve..... but kids wont spend money on rito then so its not gonna happen
