i honestly dont know why being polite is so hard

like, can you not focus on yourself? take me for example. i went through 3 stages of behavior. 1st stage, I was toxic to any and everyone who fed, and quick to shift the blame to someone else whenever I was doing poorly. i thought being polite was super hard and I couldnt contain it due to my ADHD and such. 2nd stage, I was really chill and calm. Until a fed enemy affects me, either by killing me or ending the game. Then I flipped out. 3rd stage, I'm not toxic to anyone anymore. i try my best to help others learn the game and not come off as rude in the process. there's some games where I lose my chill and cuss in chat, but it's never directed towards a player. most commonly, it's towards a champ an enemy is playing, or my internet. nowadays, I've been taking responsibility for poor decisions and lost games when I know I was to blame. remember when I thought it was so hard to not rage? you guys should do the same. I've been having much more enjoyable games lately, and a lot of the games I've lost were lots of fun. in a season where everything is bound to piss you off, anything and everything that can keep you non-tilted is a big plus and never hurts.

It goes back to one of the oldest issues in video game history. The human ego.

There's always that little feeling where you just want to destroy people online and prove you're better. To make you feel better about yourself.

When you don't get that, you start belittling others and try to FORCE that feeling.

What they forget is that on the other side, there's also a guy who either wants to be the best or just tries to play things calm.

So it's all down to how many smart people you can find that don't care about being the best, yours truly being one example.

People are polite irl so they can get things done.

Here, ppl have no intention to get things done. They're here for their delight and if winning the game means they have to hold their tongue back from expressing their frustration and let it pile up, then they'd rather let it all out and lose the game cuz at least they feel better that way.

For me it was the other way around. I started being toxic after i got to play ranked and saw which kind of personalities linger in the depths of bronze. AND BEHOLD: It was getting even worse the higher elo i got!!!!

I will tell you why its hard:

Because in this game, you are 100% at the mercy of your teammates, who, if they are worse than a person playing League with a NES controller, still cannot be argued with, criticised or even asked to stop trying to invade the enemy jungle as a shaco whos 4 levels behind, because according to our "protect overly sensitive peoples feelings - program" all these things are toxic.

Go frustrate yourself. That's why.

No but seriously, the toxicity levels in LoL are the lowest they've ever been. What's the problem? the game is in great shape.

I think sometimes weaker players need to acknowledge their ability (or lack of) sometimes. That can help avoid some rudeness. I was in a game recently where for some reason, I started off horribly. (it was a bot game, but still, nobody wants to lose to bots) I died like 4 times in a row, and our Yi was really carrying the team. I apologized in chat for my feeding and promised it was out of the norm. Nobody complained and Yi played another match with me and I redeemed myself. That's just a recent example. I've had other players give me tips in the past as well. I know I'm not a skilled player, so I generally stick to bots where I won't ruin others' game. I can't remember a time where someone was nasty to me in chat.

Just saying maybe a "little" of the responsibility rests on the less skilled players.
