I Got Perma-Banned from League of Legends after spending $1000. This is Criminal.

NoobSaibutt·6/27/2018, 4:54:06 PM·5 votes·3,241 views

I have been banned temporarily before in league, but always for something really bad. i feel that i have reformed as a player and yet i get a perma ban out of nowhere! here is exactly what i got banned for: Game 1 In-Game NoobSaibutt: lol NoobSaibutt: lmao NoobSaibutt: stay galio NoobSaibutt: WTF NoobSaibutt: yay NoobSaibutt: KYS NoobSaibutt: jk NoobSaibutt: report galio NoobSaibutt: ggez NoobSaibutt: kys all ;-;

I said KYS as a joke to my teammate and clearly stated that i was joking. at the end of the game, i typed kys all and told my friend as a joke because it was as the nexus exploded and was too fast for anyone to see. even if you could argue that i was toxic this game, i should at least get a 2 week ban or something and not a PERMANENT BAN after just that. I have supported riot for years and spent over 1000 dollars on their game, which is A LOT, and if theyre going to strip away my account over something so little, then i want a refund.

EDIT: I also have tourette's syndrome which causes me to say things that i dont always want to. yes i have been toxic outside of that but sometimes, like in the first case of when i said kys, i didn't even mean to say it and i tried to cover with "JK". i know that this sounds ridiculous, but i have forms with the actual diagnosis.

...but always for something really bad.

Telling another player to kill themselves is really bad, even if you personally consider it a joke. Normally this earns a 14-day ban, but if you previously had received punishments (and it seems like you have) than this is an expected escalation.

Unfortunately this is the system working as intended, and, as per the terms of use, you do not get a refund when your access to League's service is terminated due to violations of the rules.

Good, you deserve it. You don't joke about killing yourself. And you can forget about getting the money back.

Someone reported you for this game to be reviewed and you can't just expect everything to just go away by saying that it was just a joke. If you were permabanned for this I would take a guess that you've been hit by punishments before this and you were in bad standing with the system. If I'm mistaken about you being banned before you can contact support and ask for lenience.

As for your demand for a refund, good luck with that. You can contact support and talk to billing about it but I doubt that they're going to let you refund RP that you have already spent. The ToU clearly states that you have no ownership over anything in the account and that you're only allowed access so long as you adhere to the terms.

I have several friends who actually have Tourette syndrome. It is not where you blurt out words, and curses (like TV shows make you think). Tourette syndrome is more like an unavoidable stutter, but you aren't necessarily talking at the time.

Not only that, Having Tourette syndrome is a speech disorder, not a typing disorder. Nice try, but no.

Considering that this resulted in a Permanent Ban, the 4th and final punishment on the ladder, it's clear that you've had some recent history of misbehavior on the account, as if you were on a clean slate, it would have only resulted in a 14-day ban, not a permanent one.

That said, just because you feel like you've reformed doesn't mean you get a free pass to decide what is and isn't in breach of the rules. Suicide is not a joke, and you're not allowed to just say "JK" and everything'll be cool. For one, nobody wants to see other people tell each other to kill themselves over a game, no matter how serious or flippant they're being about it. On top of that, jokes tend to be funny. This is not.

...and if theyre going to strip away my account over something so little...

Ah, yes, because a human life has less worth than a videogame. Truly, they're hitting you for the smallest of offenses here. /s

...then i want a refund.

RP purchases are non-refundable transactions. It says so on the backs of pre-paid Riot Point cards, it says so in the Client when you move to actually make a purchase, and it's detailed in the ToU that Riot is under no obligation to refund any purchases made on the termination of your account.

4.3. Do I “own” the Virtual Goods I unlock? (No. What you “unlock” is not the virtual good itself, but rather, a qualified right to access it in the Game.)

You have no ownership or other property interest in any of the Virtual Goods you unlock, regardless of whether you acquired access to those Virtual Goods using Riot Points, Blue Essence or Hextech Crafting. Virtual Goods have no monetary value. You can’t redeem them for cash. You can’t obtain any refunds for purchasing Riot Points or Virtual Goods, except as expressly permitted by us. You can find our current content refund policy here.

If you want a refund, then, sorry to say, you're not getting one. Them's the 8r8ks.

"JK" doesn't actually make things better for anyone. It's actually seen as hollow and an attempt to circumvent punishment when speaking to another human being online.

at one point i actually did unbind my enter key, but re binded it later on.

You took measures to prevent yourself but then removed those preventative measures knowing you had a certain tic. That's something you have to take responsibility for and unfortunately when you rebound your chat key, you accepted the risk of getting permanently banned.

If you do decide to come back to the game, you should probably keep the chat key unbound permanently so that you don't give yourself the chance to type something that would get you punished again.

Remember, you don't get punished for not typing in the game when you play to win. You can communicate through pings just fine.

Please point me to a medical journal that includes 'typing coherent words' as a symptom of tourettes. I've heard of twitches, verbal tics, blurted words, odd sounds, etc... but never coherent typing.

KYS alone causes a large escalation to your ban. If you say it from a perfectly healthy account, you get a two-week ban. If you already have received warnings in the past, it escalates to permaban. You may consider it a joke, but whether or not you meant it as funny or lighthearted, the reality is suicide is a very serious problem, and Riot (nor any other company for that matter) can afford to allow others to in any way, shape, or form add to that problem. You don't know who was on the other end, or what their mental state was. Yes, the overwhelming majority of people will shake that off and just think you are a highly unpleasant person for saying it. But maybe the person is severely depressed and considering suicide already. It is not worth taking that chance just so you can feel good about harassing someone over a video game.

Your ban was justified. If you didn't want to lose the account you spent a lot of money on, maybe you should have controlled yourself.

Lol, I’ve played with you before OP. Rather recently. I see the game we played in your match history.

This isn’t surprising. You were pretty poorly behaved. Hopefully you learn from this if you decide to start over, Riot takes a no tolerance policy on this kind of stuff.

  1. You can't know how other people will take something offensive that you joke about. It is irresponsible to expect them to take it as a joke and not be upset. They have a right to not have that said to them. And a right to report you if you say it to them.

  2. Spending money does not make you immune to the rules. And you got use out of that money anyways over the years because you spent it on content that you were then able to play with for all of that time.

  3. Having a diagnosis does not excuse a bad behavior. I have a diagnosis for something too, but really that just means that we should be aware of our tendencies, and take steps to prevent them. For example moving your chat box off the screen, or unbinding your enter key.

  4. If you had a 14 day ban previously, then you should have known that you were on thin ice and you should have known to take steps to prevent future outbursts.

As someone who has suffered from suicidal thoughts most of my life, suicide is not a joke. No one should be told to kill themselves under any circumstances.

Arngrim316/28/2018, 1:48:09 AM3 votes

Using a disability such as Tourettes syndrome as a lame excuse? You more than enough deserve your ban, good riddance.

Kaioko6/27/2018, 7:24:52 PM2 votes

That's not what Tourette syndrome is. The fact that you're lying and pretending to have a medical issue that REAL people have a deal with every single day is disgusting. I am glad your account is banned.

UnknownTerritory6/27/2018, 11:13:19 PM2 votes

Insulting and harrasing others will get you banned. Doesnt matter how much money you gave. Money don't give you a shield for perma ban. +Toxic Players who didnt give money to this game = Toxic Players who give money to this game See any difference? because i dont :)

I got Honor Level 4 today after spending $4,000 over 8 years.

LOL @ U

FOR JUSTICE6/27/2018, 5:14:38 PM2 votes

you have to note that even if you were joking, someone didnt take it that way. you only get punished if you were actually reported, so someone didnt think it was funny. most presumably the galio.

You guys say that this man is wrong, but it isnt.Even if he said it for fun even if he not,i wouldnt gave him perma ban.Its cruel, and dont forget that all of you have said something bad to a people,so i think that he deserves a second or third chance.Dont be so cruel,he just lost 1000 money,he dont deserve it.And bro i think that you must write a ticket and tell it.

Pika Fox7/30/2018, 1:41:34 PM1 votes

While i also dislike permabans and would like a better solution.... You were 2 week banned before and decided to use a word that is instantly banned no questions asked....

You cant blame riot for this.
