14 day suspension

Have been playing league for quite a while, lost info for my old account, had this one since about S4. Just logged on and saw I got a 14 day suspension. I have never gotten punished for swearing and stuff like that before. My question is: why does Riot care about this stupid "toxicity" thing? A large part of the game is heat of the moment plays, and as a result you get speech reflective of such. Only as of recent have they been cracking down on this and I don't know why. I have spent lots of money on this game, and will have to resort to disabling my chat to avoid the risk of permaban.

Because a lot of players are not playing the game to see someone throw a temper tantrum in chat over a video game. It makes it rather unenjoyable and annoying, losing them customers.

So Riot has deemed it required to treat other people with civility.

If that means you need to disable your own chat because you are incapable of being civil, that's fine.

Speech is a reflexive process, while typing is an active process. No one ever typed "ouch" when they got punched in the stomach. For this reason, when you type something toxic, you are choosing to be toxic. That's why Riot cares.

Hey guys, I have more than one account red flag 1 and I mean I have a history of being a toxic jerk but only recently is it an 'issue' for me... flag 2 and so like. I pay a lot to this game, so I should be able to talk to other human beings any way I want... you know, because, money.... flag 3

you really need to re-read what you wrote. You basically name shamed yourself. I may as well go into my client now and block you. lol. Its called narcissism and being a sociopath, maybe look those up get back to us....

you are in a social game with 19 other humans. some are kids. when im flaming i try and think about how awful my GF was at league and that some of these people are kids. I picture them as my grandma if I have to.

If THEY are trolling you and thats why you are toxic. Realize 2 things. 1) they are getting the exact reaction they want to illicit 2) just dont say anything, mute them, report them at the end. As you clearly see they will get in trouble. I have had like a 5 game chat bad you .... must have been super toxic....

btw to some extend your name is re portable as well. good luck.

because a good amount of people who work for riot were probably bullied in hs, so they are really against toxicity.

I'm not sure why you have to resort to disabling your chat... why not just work on not being toxic to people and develop better social skills and coping mechanisms?

A large part of the game is heat of the moment plays, and as a result you get speech reflective of such.

See, I could possibly be willing to over look these moments. However, there are just as many times people are toxic outside of moment plays.

Some examples:

  1. Pre game chat - No moment plays have happened, yet some people are still toxic. This can set the tone very quickly.
  2. Troll and Toxic in same game - Really fun one here. When a troll is in a different lane, borderline inting(assuming they are just bad.) With some weird off meta thing. (No issues with off meta, but some don't make sense. See building something they don't scale with at all)
  3. Support Saves Someone - The support dies to take a bullet or brunt of damage to save someone. ( "OMG Noob Supp. GG x9") [I have literally blown my flash when my ad tried to take a Cait Ult for me. I was afraid they would die and didn't want that.]
  4. One outplay - "Sorry, That didn't go as expected." Toxic response: "Don't come back to my lane ****er go be a useless *** somewhere else." Followed soon by a "GG Being camped, no ganks from my jg."

Just a few issues I have with your point.

Let's use an analogy.

We are playing soccer. And every time you slip up, even if it is only a couple of times, I yell at you and insult you in the most colorful language. After this happens for a while, would you want to keep playing?

For Rito, this matters, as people will leave if they continue to have bad experiences.

So they ban you for giving a bad experience to other people who are paying customers.

Another analogy.

You are at a store, and you just follow someone around yelling at them.

The manager is going to kick you out.
