20 Minute Ban Fix (AFK)

I personally think the 20 minute ban - 5 game system is a good way to deter those leaving matches mid-game. However, if one needs to leave a match due to an emergency I don't think they should be faulted for it. If this system was put into effect after 3+ AFK matches then I would understand.

What I don't understand is, I haven't left mid-game for months; yet when I logged onto league today I received said ban. (Why should I be discouraged from playing the game when I'm not at fault?) This system is deterring people from playing the game. I personally have taken breaks from playing the game (ALMOST A YEAR: been playing since 2013) and I know that some stop playing indefinitely due to this poorly-executed rule. Riot, please fix this.

It is only put into effect after a couple games.

Keep in mind, though: The "Reset period" (when it goes back to minimum punishment) is based on games played, not just on time.

If you go AFK, don't play for 6 years, then go AFK in the next game, you'll get put in LPQ.

This already how the system works.

When you take a break and don't play the game, your punishment state stays the same. It doesn't decay based on time, it takes based on games played.

Think of it like an RPG, just because you stop playing, doesn't mean your character would suddenly have decayed to 0% exp, you'll still be at that 98% state which you left it at before you took a break.

What constitutes an "emergency"?

In my experience, there's enough built-in leniency to forgive 100% unavoidable situations. I've abandoned games due to a sudden hurricane warning causing my building to be evacuated, or my entire block losing power due to a massive transformer failure. But "emergency" can mean other things to other people. There was a guy here a while back complaining that he had a sick family member who he cared for, and he'd abandon games if they required assistance. And while I sympathize with that situation, playing League while you're on call is a terrible way to treat your fellow players, and the Leaverbuster system reflects that.

You would have to afk in a lot of games to even get to 5 minutes LPQ. I personally have afk in likely more than 3,4 times and never seen so much as a warning, let alone 5m LPQ. After the 5m LPQ, you would have to afk some more to get to 10 minutes LPQ. After your 10m LPQ, you would again have to afk even more to finally arrived at 20 minutes LPQ. Just how many chances do you think you should get? At 20m LPQ, you are already a known frequent leaver. The tolerance on your account is very low. Maybe it's not Rito's problem, but yours?
