Permanently banned for saying "kys" once?

I was permanently banned for saying "kys" once. While I understand the need to keep league of legends a healthy and non-toxic community, I do not understand how someone who has spent hundreds of hours and dollars on an account loses it because they said a barely offensive term once. I just am unable to grasp how that is considered "toxic" behavior given the milieu of toxicity, trolling, and feeding endemic to this game. I understand even a 1 week ban for this, but a permanent ban for saying kys is a punishment that does not fit the crime. My appeal to riot player support failed, as they said they have a zero tolerance policy toward players insulting other players in that manner.

You told someone to kill themselves, over a game. You declared that person's entire life, connections to friends and family, and years of experiences to be less important than your last 20 minutes. You said that they should not even live, because in some way they inconvenienced you.

Offense has nothing to do with it.

Obviously, we know that you didn't really mean it that way. But your meaning is without relevance to random people you interact with. If you wouldn't go up to a random person on the street and tell them to kill themselves, then you shouldn't do it in League.

I got a 14-day ban, just for this reason, yeah I'm infuriated, I was harassed by 3 people on the opposing team. They told me to kill my self, instead of writing it in 'kys' they wrote 'K' then enter, 'Y' then enter 'S' then enter, In retaliation I said 'no u 3 should consider to kys' then I muted them 3. After the tournament game I reported all 3 of them, in return I get banned, they didnt, they are still playing. Thanks. Riot will always find an excuse for this.

OP isn't that toxic after reading the chat. The problem is kys is a trigger word that makes Riot overreact worse than someone on their period.

If I may add my 2 cents. Telling someone to kill themselves, in an age where children are increasingly committing suicide from online bullying, is an absolute no. There no reason for you to tell someone to kill themselves. Tell them they lack skill at what they are doing and need more practice, tell them you are better than them and they have a long way to go, but don't tell someone to take their own life.

The real issue is that you thought just because you spent a lot of money you could get away with it. I'm sorry you think like that.

Obviously people saying this term is pointless and should go unpunished have never lost anyone to suicide, their lives are absolutely perfect, or their lives are absolute garbage and they're just that cynical. You have people growing up in the toxicity that is the world today. I hear about 10 year olds killing themselves over non-stop bullying. If you really think it's a blameless phrase, wait until someone does, they leave a note, and authorities track that suicidal intention back to you via Riot. That's 6 months in prison. For some reason, I highly doubt the ones of you that say it's an okay phrase won't be the same coming out after that sentence.

If you wouldn't say it to your grandma, don't say it to a stranger. If you'd say it to your grandma, you got more pressing issues, take care of those first.

Terms of Service! It does not matter wether you hurt someone or not (Unlikely you actually did). But you signed the terms of service and if oyur break your part of it, riot will terminate the whole thing. They can ban you for wrtiing "flower" if they write it in their terms of use!

Hi. I've got ban for the same reason,even if my teammates flamed the whole match i said kys to one player and i've got a report from that player and i got perma banned.I made a ticket to riot,they said they have zero tolerance towards this word, or any other racist term.I spent 700 hrs or so,and i've worked hard for that,but i got a fool that reported me and now im banned.I really think about quitting LOL.I saw cases like Tyler1,who got banned for the exactly same reason but later like 3 years after he got his ban lifted.I found this very disturbing because he takes part of the LOL community and i think all the players have the same amount of rights,and i think he got his ban lifted just because he was a streamer and had lots of viewers that wanted him back.But as i said we are equal in the LOL community.

First offense is 14 day. 2nd is perma. So either you were so toxic you got a manual upgrade to perma, or thie isnt your first offense.
