Dear RIOT instead of punishing people for being toxic, look at your own toxic matchmaking system

Ok so I'm just getting to know the boards and accidentally wrote this in gameplay. Please dont flame for messing up but here it is:

I have at this point seen every single player become toxic after these strings of bad games that pretty much every LoL player has experienced at some point. If I'm 22/3 and still losing a game are you honestly saying I deserve to be punished when I say What the f*** are you doing to the 1/12 jungle? As someone who has played sports at a professional level I can tell you you're fighting a losing battle by doing this. I've never seen a team that doesn't get annoyed at some tipping point, and you know what, that release of anger through words (even yelling) is healthy.

In my opinion this punishment only serves to tilt an already tilted player more. And it also is a system under the assumption that there are just these "toxic players" that need to be removed. Guess what? Everyone playing this game is toxic at some point and to some degree. At what point does RIOT as a company accept that toxicity is a result of players having frustrating experiences while playing. Why do you as a company choose to see "toxic behavior" and not people crying out for something better.

TLDR: RIOT should stop focusing on punishing its playerbase and start focusing on improving the aspects of the game the playerbase has been waiting for.

So this is a very common theme - players blame matchmaking for toxicity. It sounds great and all - until you look at the root of the problem.

The problem here is not matchmaking - it is that players tend to think they are better than statistics show they do. For example, OP, you have a 46% winrate in ranked this season. That means that, on average, you are being matched with players slightly better than you in skill. Don't try and claim you "always" get "feeders" or "AFKs" etc - statistically those do not affect your skill level/MMR at all (proveable quite easily when you remember that there's 5 players on each team and both teams draw from the same pool of players to match).

Once you realize the root of the problem is players thinking they're better than they actually are, you can finally discuss whether Riot needs to stop punishing toxic players. Players who get negative because they feel as if they are being held back by others, instead of realizing that they themselves are not skillful enough to climb - those are the types of players who need to be punished by the system. You are blaming matchmaking for the lack of control you display in deciding to flame others instead of focusing on improving your skill.

This may sound quite blunt, but the problem is not matchmaking - no matter how much you try and claim it is or what "logical argument" you try to make.

There are certain things that matchmaking is never going to know that can vastly change how well you do in an individual game.

Which champion you select and how well you play with that champion. What type of player you are and how well you do with your teammates' playstyle or how well you do against your enemys' playstyle. How well you're feeling that day.

I said somewhere before that the toxicity problem would be greatly diminished if Riot focused the mmr/elo system not on wins and losses but on player statistics as well as wins and losses. Aside from the generic toxic player, most negative chat comes from players having to witness those on their team make mistakes that the players would NEVER make themselves and had learned not to make on their first month of playing.

That's my only problem involving toxicity. I get frustrated with people having two wards stocked then blaming the jungler because they get ganked. I'll suggest they ward and they just get even angrier. Or they complain about no MIA's when they could easily look at the map and know whether or not someone is in lane. There are so many things that players in low elo at least will be toxic over that's not even a problem just a matter of their low skill level and it's almost impossible for someone who knows what to do to not negatively react to.

Sure, there's always the mute button, but if you have to mute them then most like you're going to lose because you have no idea why your team is doing so badly.

"not my fault your game makes me say kys to someone" it is your fault you don't have to say anything yet you chose to.

(i know that you may or may not have said "kys" that was just an example to make the point)

You have to love how everyone on these forums is a saint on a high horse explaining how to behave rofl.

Let he who hath never flamed cast the first stone. RIOT please if you're gonna do 1984 do it right and dig through literally every player's chat logs and ban/punish them accordingly.

75% Don't get punishments rofl....imaqtpie flamed today he just didn't get reported...now it looks like I'm singling him out but I love watching this guy play every day (it's how I relax). Now he needs to have what happen because he had a bad alistar who just couldn't play at that level? Who the hell doesn't get mad in these scenarios, we are FUCKING HUMAN. WE HAVE FUCKING EMOTIONS. WE ARE NOT FUCKING ROBOTS THAT LOOK AT WIN RATES TO DETERMINE EMOTION

Guess what? Riot does this to punish you for not keeping your cool. They want you to learn how to channel your anger.

Actually no we fucking don't. Dude spare me I've seen every type of person get pissed when times get hard enough. Maybe not many people have played competitive sports but have you really never been pissed during a game???? How is league different from sport when it is literally trying to sell as an "ESPORT".

But you know the difference between this garbage and an actual sport. You know what the hell we did when any guy started yelling or got pissed? We were fucking there for him. We tried our best to pick him up or tried to give him some encouragement to get back in it.

Maybe instead of punishing these KIDS RIOT can give them some constructive feedback. Maybe these people who are "toxic" are in the ones who would need league of legends the most and would be the biggest fans. Try building instead of breaking down as a company and maybe it'll spread to the community.

tl;dr "i am not responsible for my own behaviour. It's not my fault if I behave badly".

Riot is a piece of shit company, (they are basically a different version of the Xbox one console) I am glad I don't give money to this piece of shit company.
