Questions on account punishment.

About 3 years ago I was a very toxic player and used the N word a lot in game, resulting in a 14 day ban. I'm a much more behaved player because I spent hundreds of dollars on my account and I don't want to lose it. [slayer-jinx-catface] [sg-syndra] Skip ahead to last weekend, I got a 24 hour ban on CS:GO for being reported too many times. (I'm very unskilled and at one of the lowest possible ranks.) But what would happen is I would join these ranked games and I guess I'd run into a pre-made of 4 who would vote to kick me. After the 2nd time I got the 24 hour ban on CS:GO. Nocturne My questions are as such: Nocturne

  1. Is it possible that over-time, my account may have gotten better? Like if I were to get reported and a punishment was made, would I result in a ban or go back to chat-restriction?
  2. If my account got better, is there a way for me to check it?
  3. Would the system ban me if I genuinely played poorly in a game and 4 of my teammates reported me? (I understand Poor Skill is not a reportable offense anymore but trolls still report players they don't generally like.) {{summoner:36}} summoner 11 This Preview looks bland so I will insert some icons to make it prettier.

If your last punishment was three years ago (and you've been playing during that time), then yes, it's likely that your punishment tier has dropped significantly. If your honor level has been consistently high over the past couple seasons, I'm sure you're good to go, though I hope you know not to push your luck by going back to your old behavior. It wouldn't hurt to submit a support ticket to ask for sure where your account stands, though.

Number of reports don't matter, and being unskilled isn't punishable (except in the unlikely scenario that you play so badly that your behavior is indistinguishable from somebody attempting to lose the game intentionally, but that rarely if ever happens).

Over time - no. If you got punished three years ago, put down the game, and only now came back, your account would still be on thin ice - but, if you've been playing regularly since then (as Jo0o stated), your account would de-escalate in punishment tiers after a while of playing.

  1. If my account got better, is there a way for me to check it?

I'm unsure, but I think you can request info on your account's punishment/report history by submitting a Support Ticket - though I'm not sure if they'd have the exact info you want, it's still at least possible to check.

  1. Would the system ban me if I genuinely played poorly in a game and 4 of my teammates reported me? (I understand Poor Skill is not a reportable offense anymore but trolls still report players they don't generally like.)

Nope. Playing poorly will not net you a ban, and I've probably only ever seen one false-positive punishment of the like without any other factors that misled the punishment system. Even if people troll report you, you're more likely to see a blue moon than get punished for poor performance.

On top of that, you don't have to worry about premades/groups reporting - mass reports don't have any greater influence on whether or not you get punished. The IFS only requires any number of reports above zero to trigger a review, and a punishment is only issued if that review finds punishable behavior.

Punishment tier decays upon games played, not time. You need to prove to the system that you have reformed.

It takes a player with average game time around 3 months of playing to decay one punishment tier.

  1. If my account got better, is there a way for me to check it?

You can submit a ticket to https://support.riotgames.com and ask them which punishment tier your account is currently standing on.

  1. Would the system ban me if I genuinely played poorly in a game and 4 of my teammates reported me? (I understand Poor Skill is not a reportable offense anymore but trolls still report players they don't generally like.)

2 things you need to know;

  1. Riot punishes intentional disruptive gameplay behavior, where your purpose is to ruin other people's experience. They don't punish people that are solely bad.

  2. The system has the capability to filter out false reports. If people mass report you and you didn't do anything wrong, those reports will be discarded.

Meaning, don't worry about people reporting you for nothing. Those people have a misconception on how the system works.
