About Racism in the game

I knew this was not a new topic before I started to write it down, but I still want to talk about it. I have been playing on the NA server for five years, even till yesterday, I still felt this topic had nothing to do with me. I just had a rank game 30 mins ago, and the jgler on our team got pretty mad at me for not looking at the mini-map for once. This guy constantly verbally abuse and I was just trying to ignore him but focus on my play. For some reason, this guy felt insulted because I ignored him for a long time, and started to bring his anger into the topic of race. He literally said "Chinese Cxxt" in the game since he noticed the Chinese and Korean spell in my ID, and saying "hoping you are not doing this bad in ur own country"(by connecting with other hate speeches he stated before, this somehow means "hoping I am not the trash of trash"). I suddenly muted him, and reported him after the game, even though I am not sure if rito is going to do something with it. I just looked over other discussions about Racism on boards, and all people saying is like, "you just need to ignore and report", "he might be a kid" or "people like pussies just want to release their anger in the game since they're losers". But what I am wondering right now is that all of those sayings have no real effect on this situation, and this is neither the first time nor the last time happens to the league. Racism is a serious stuff, tbh I don't really care if this guy is a kid or a loser, the truth is, hes being racist. And racism is the stuff that actually hurts the community. I think Riot needs to take this into account. This is even more serious than scripting. Please share your thoughts, thank you.

Yes,

Rito should take responsibility for the use and misuse of their product as any other company do, especially since has such a large user base it should promote a healthy attitude considering that a lot of players are young and still in developing age.

I've actually seen way smaller game companies taking great step against racism, sexism, inequalities and other abuses. It actually surprised me how they took in serious consideration such things.

Mute, Report, Move On (file a support ticket if you feel strongly about it)

Rito takes racism quite seriously. It's one of those straight to 14-day/perma deal. During the game, not much you can do about it other than "ignore and report". Racism is not exclusive to League. If you are on the internet itself, it won't be the first or last time you encounter it (either directly to you or indirectly to someone else). Report and move on with your life.

I have the same issue with "mute report move on". Great, I've muted them. But at that point, theyve said one thing that I have perceived as racist. Once I've muted, I cant see anything else they say. And so far in my experience, the player base has NO probelm with racist comments. So I usually dont mute to see if Im the one who misunderstood and 99% of the time, its them being racist. Its a serious conversation they need to have with the community. They make videos for the dumbest things on these boards, it wouldn't kill the "devs" to sit down and have a serious chat with the community. Harrassing your own team will never help you win. So many players seem to think the more they flame, the more someone will do better. Adding racist comments will only make someones preformance worse.

Why do you think those sayings have no effect on the situation?

Racist speech in game is already heavily punished with a 14-day ban.

At the end of the day it is a video game. Racism is something that shouldn't be allowed but it doesn't actually have an impact on the game experience especially when you can mute. Scripting does have a legitimate impact.
