PSA: Think someone is about to commit suicide? This is a video games Board, not a Helpline/Hospital

Like why would anyone in the right mind think this is the appropriate place to discuss the issue? Listen, lots of IRL emergencies happen everyday to many League players.

None of them will be Solved through the "Player Behavior and Moderation" Section on the Boards. Submit a ticket if you're really clueless about the outside world and never heard of 911 . I am almost more inclined to believe half of these posts are fake and attention seeking.

I was very sick the other week. I didn't come to the Player Behavior Section to get well. I went to see a Doctor.

A certain very popular streamer who get permabanned considered suicide the other week.

His friends didn't come to the Player Behavior Section on the League of Legends Boards, they called the Police

Like seriously. These Boards, AREN'T for Emergencies. If you think there's an Emergency, call the police like anyone with a Brain would, infact take those 5mins you're going to use writing a post on the boards and type in Google "Suicide Helpline" for your local area.

I know I'm "mean" and curt but I don't care. We can't help you anymore beyond your local police station/hospital or suicide lifeline.

I'm putting an end to this shit before more Edgy Teenagers think this is the appropriate place to help your other Edgy friends going through that Emo stage in their life.

Stop. Nobody cares. Not that nobody cares that your friend/ex is in danger, but nobody can possibly take you serious when if their supposedly in such immediate danger that you're writing on a video games player behavior boards instead of contacting THE POLICE/HOSPITAL.

To be fair the main reason why people come to the boards is because somebody else, whom they have no other contacts with, informs them of the desire.

At least, so I've seen.

Of course they are attention seeking.

Most posts professing concern over someone else's (or their own) behavior are attention seeking.

People aren't looking for help or ideas so much as they are looking for interaction, sympathy, validation, upvotes.

We've had some really good ones over the last few weeks, but as I didn't bother to call them out in their own threads I won't do it here.

Is this like those people who get raped but report it to their school instead of the Police who would actually investigate it as a crime? Then when they finally get to the police the evidence is all gone.

In general, I can agree with you - call the police, call a suicide hotline, call a hospital, seek help. I think the thing that's missing from your post is that in the situation you're describing (unless there was another one) dealt with someone asking advice because they had already exhausted those particular avenues (had called a hotline, the police, 911) and wanted to see if there was anyone here that could help point to other alternatives. I can't fault them for this - this is a particular forum that deals with individuals interacting with other individuals hundreds, if not thousands, miles away. I'm also not going to fault someone seeking out every possible way to help a friend in need.

As an aside, if you are having suicidal thoughts, hospitals are such a good resource. Please, talk to someone, if just to let another person know how you're feeling and what's going on in your life.
