The root cause of many bans...

Hunts and Dips·1/9/2016, 7:21:18 PM·18 votes·3,752 views

is ignorance of the rules/how they work.

"He was toxic to me so I was toxic back"

"I only cursed at him"

"All I did was tell my team to report him"

"There is a mute button for a reason"

"I was only defending myself"

I see these excuses over and over again. Riot needs to post sticky threads or add tips in the client that highlight the most common ways people receive punishments and how to avoid them.

What are some excuses you hear for toxic behavior?

"freedom of speech"

If I had a dollar for every time someone used that as an excuse...

Even if they did do this people wont listen. Look at when ever there is an Event going on. They always need to post about not trusting 3rd party site, or any place not associated with League of Legends, or Riot Games. And yet people still fall for it and still demand Riot does something like compensation. Even if they did this people will just make much more excuses like they didnt see it so they shouldnt be punished for something that should be common sense.

You covered the major ones, but I think my favorite was "He was a f---ing idiot, and deserved it."

I just sat there like [zombie-brand-mindblown]

I feel like less of it is ignorance and more entitlement, or a feeling of self righteousness.

"I was only banned because Riot caters to sensitive babies," or "It's not my fault I called my teammate useless, it's their fault for being useless!"

That kind of behavior is truly truly outrageous if you ask me. Too many people want to blame someone else for being banned.

The toxic to me so I'm toxic back one is probably the worst one. I've always believed in an eye for an eye so coming into Leagues player base and realizing that that is just as bannable really annoyed/still annoys me.

If someones acting like a jerk they lose all the rights including the right to be protected from toxicity directed towards them.

Irrelevant. Riot sets the standard. If Riot chose not to punish people for threatening to report people in the game, it wouldn't matter whether the community wanted to punish for that or not. That is merely an example.

"You can't blame me for being human! we all have our bad days and sometimes we go off limits! la la la, nobody's perfect! ETC.."

It just boils down to people believing themselves at fault for nothing. They don't seem to learn and always find ways of shifting blame. Whatever they believe is irrelevant. You have a choice, treat people how you wish to be treated or suffer the consequences of treating others poorly. Whatever excuses people invent for themselves amount to nothing. If punished, a person can learn to change their ways or proceed to live in misery for their contempt towards others.

Take a look at the number of threads people complaining about their bans and suspensions being unfair.

I once teamed with a chat restricted player who was incredibly toxic to the point that my allies and opponents agreed to report them. They must have been punished soon after because I quickly received that automated thank you message we all enjoy seeing whenever someone is punished for breaking the rules.

I don't know...the only time I see people flaming (excluding the CoD kids) are when people are afk or trolling. Seems to me that if you fix the root cause, you fix the issue. I mean, I think it's clear that rito's current way isn't solving a darn thing.

"Faceys" can be confusing. But that's okay.

Metalhead71/10/2016, 11:43:38 PM1 votes

Riot cannot handle the system anymore the ragers are in control of things idc if you don't believe me its the truth....

Why can't riot Lyte be here and tell me to my face if im right or wrong?

I have been in constant humiliation for the past 3 years league is and will never be a friendly game only ragers/Poeple who want to make me feel like trash and rioters allow it..

[zombie-brand-facepalm]

This is league for me.

Stating to report someone is also bannable ^.^

Kaffee mit Milch1/11/2016, 11:43:42 PM1 votes

How about create a TOXIC QUEUE that, before perma ban, the toxic people can only play in the toxic queue so they take a does of toxic themselves? Of coz good people are NOT allowed to queue there. And the Toxin, they can play their league of toxic while appealing their case before the actual perma ban.

Reforming from league of toxic can savor account from being perma ban. But in an environment full of toxic players, I don't really think any of them can keep away from being salty.

Still I say this slow down people from crying "Spending hundreds and account got banned".

What are some excuses you hear for toxic behavior?

The most common excuse I hear is when I ask them if they've read and abide by the Summoner's Code they say" No, I haven't." Ironic, seeing as how agreeing to the ToS means you clicked that you've read and agree to the Summoner's Code as well...

If Riot would just enforce the Summoner's Code more draconically (that is, less mamby-pamby giving people 6 chances to reform despite the fact that Riot themselves admit that toxic players poison other players' attitudes and turn them into toxic players) and actually do what they say they're going to do to toxics, 90% of the problems with toxicity would be solved.

Dominick Destine1/14/2016, 9:55:01 PM1 votes

It's true that the community is too sensitive (To not use the other politically incorrect term) and it is also true that the punishment system is incredibly draconian.... that is the system players opt into when they start up the game.

I would love nothing more than for Riot to abandon the ultra PC, leftist draconian stances but I don't get to decide that. Thus, like all intelligent Chaotic Evil humans, we must abide by the rules of the establishment under threat of punishment. It is not our role to fix the broken system.

Just remember that being in violation of the rules established by those with power is neither wise nor effective. Never be toxic, you are giving the authoritarian members power to damage you on a whim, etc.

This is funny, you actually believe Riot bans people?
