Lack of Honor

Honor | League of Legends

Do you remember when honor was introduced to league? It was back in 2012. From those days to our present times, honoring players has become more and more rare, up to a point where honoring is becoming a rare sight rather than a common situation at the end of every game. There could be many possible causes for this:

  1. The Honor-Giving-Hype is long gone
  2. We have become more demanding in our expectations to hand out honor
  3. We focus so much on the negative aspects of the game that we forget all about the positive comments or plays that happen during the game

I'm sure many of you could come up with several other possible causes, yet it seems like the lack of honor has a mild effect in our community. Everybody likes receiving praises and yes it is true that we don't always deserve them but every win and loss is a team effort and it (probably) would not happen without the members of the team as a whole. Acknowledging a fellow player's good deeds is an incentive that encourages him to do so once again to receive the recognition, not giving the recognition discourages the player since the player has "nothing more to fight for".

Let us work on bringing Honor back to league!

Considering I haven't seen an honor ribbon in probably over a year, I thought they had just removed the entire thing from the game while keeping around the ability to honor just for kicks.

Honor is supposed to be receiving a rework with the new Tribunal. The word is that we'll be voting on positive and neutral cases alongside potential punishments, so earn enough honor and the community might recognize your positive contributions.

The problem is that honor ribbons are so hard to get and so rare that no one sees the point of honoring someone.

honor doesnt give u anything but a ribbon or some number which no one looks at.

I know for me personally, after I dig through all the information I want to look at in the post game lobby, I typically just forget about honoring (and reporting, in some cases) entirely. Its also a very easy to miss aspect of the post game lobby that I didn't even know about for the first year+ I was playing the game because its just so...out of the way and insignificant on that screen.

The system needs to be reworked I think so honoring people is more noticeable to people in the post game screen and not so easy to forget/overlook.

you get nothing other than a pointless ribbon. Nothing tangible like a skin, ip boot, etc. Most of the ribbons I see are from people who play mostly bot games.

  1. they should make it easier to give honors , like a quick honor system. like a quick honor system.

  2. base the honors off unique player ID #, so you can give unique people 1 honor in each one category once and no more. This way you cannot farm honors with friends. .. ie 100 honors would have to be from 100 different people, not from 1 person honoring you 100 x.

  3. Lose the current rolling average before the ribbons are given. I'ts currently so hard to get them that no one gives a F&@^#! . I come across toxic players .. and when I warn them that their behavior is going to rob their whole team of honors, they just don't give a F!*@. What's wrong with honors being easy to get, and permanent. Let everyone get the, it's proof that the game is filled with many nice people.

Just by changing my attitude a bit I've gotten at least two honors from each game for the last two games. On one of them I was nidalee and had a negative kda and lost the game but still got one from our team and from the enemy team

Eey, good suggestion! I've been handing out honours for friendly people for a good amount of time, and as a person who doesn't randomly mystery gift (no cash rip) my way of thanking a person for carrying me is the "teamwork" honour. Or generally someone I liked working with.

"Helpful" honours is something I rarely hand out, but if someone has good advice and I remember it at the end of the game that might happen as well.

You're right though, honours should be something that could be given out easily and without too much remembering involved. I've forgotten several times simply because the button is so small. Perhaps a pop-window could be an idea?

Zense12/26/2015, 9:58:34 PM1 votes

They should make it to where if you get a set amount of honors, then you get an icon.

You're talking about the League community. I'm not surprised there is no Honorable players out there

I remember back when the honor-hype was going, that was during the times where I had a slower computer so I was constantly support, so I got the teamwork ribbon quickly.

But then one day it was gone- I was puzzled beyond belief. I was still playing the same champions, in the same fashion I had been before when I earned the ribbon, but suddenly the hype wore down and other people decided I wasn't as good of a teammate.

Gonna admit, that hurt a little. Funnily enough, I see and give honor more often in ARAM than Summoner's Rift, I wonder why that is?

Not enough honor? Seppuku!
