Issues with Reports and how Ineffective they Truly are

I have made plenty of discussion posts about this in the past and recently and I know it's not a popular topic because we are all toxic at one point or another and don't like to be reported. However, as a player in the lower elo, struggling to climb his way through the trash and hopefully make it to gold one day (for the past 8 years). I have noticed that there are always toxic players in every other game. One game you'll have an amazing mix of skilled players who you can tell don't deserve to be in bronze or iron, but are stuck in their ranks because of those to games in a row where they face toxic players, who ruin their team's synergy and either they throw or someone else throws due to tilt. I recently came out of a few games this past week and everyone who was toxic, was told they will receive a report from one, two or all the teammates and they simply shrug it off like it was nothing. Reports don't scare or even change the trolls or toxic players who keep those who have skill and talent, who are trying to climb the ranks, are simply holding people down.

A system that is automated is nice, but maybe the serving of warnings when granted, would be nice. Maybe a notification where it says they've been given so many reports in the last 48 hours or something, which will actually show them that they are on a report streak? I think this may be a good deterrent to those who think it is ok to start fights with teammates, trying their best to play in ranked and finally get out of bronze or iron.

I know these topics I post aren't popular but I know I'm not the only one who thinks this, but sadly it is not a popular opinion wither because other players don't know the struggle of facing an 8 year battle to get out and stay out of bronze, or they are tired of hearing the report system doesn't work. Well it doesn't, the actions of reports don't seem to make toxic players or trolls straighten up in the middle of a game, in fact it encourages them to go even further because reports don't work as well as they should. There is no update, notification, or anything to tell that person they have been reported and they have X amount of reports to go before they get a ban of some kind.

This post is made out of passion and experience of staying in the lower egos, even though I know I would improve if given a chance to play with those who have better skill, and a support main, it's hard to climb up especially when every other game you get someone who flames, whines or simply ints because they didn't get their way.

If you are going to downvote, at least post why you don't agree with it.

...or they are tired of hearing the report system doesn't work.

It is pretty old-hat by this point, yeah. Although, IMO, the biggest reason that the statement is tiring is that it usually comes from a perspective that may be misunderstanding details about the system.

Well it doesn't, the actions of reports don't seem to make toxic players or trolls straighten up in the middle of a game...

The IFS isn't supposed to apply punishments in the middle of a match - that would be disruptive and likely lead to more problems than it fixes.

The punishments are applied in the Client between matches, where the IFS can present the punishments and the reasons for them front-and-center without unduly ruining anyone else's play experience while the punished player takes in their punishment.

That said, I do agree that there should be some sort of warning system to give players a heads-up when they've been validly reported recently. The issue is cleanly implementing it and avoiding cases where a player mistakenly thinks that they've been punished, when in reality, they're just getting warned that their behavior is starting to toe the line.

I spitballed an idea in a similar-such thread, which I'll C/P to offer as food for thought.

...I know it's been said that warnings were used before, and previously led to an influx of confused people assuming they were punished, but I still feel largely that having some sign of your behavior falling below the line would make the difference for a lot of people.

Surely they could set up a little "warning" blip to show up in the Client after a report is validated to give an unobtrusive heads-up about player misbehavior? Just to spitball.

To fix a problem requires that you know the problem, and, as it stands, I agree that the problem doesn't become known until later than necessary.
