League of Legends is the one place on earth you are expected to shut up about bad people

League is the only place on the fucking planet that you are expected to shut up about someone doing something bad or ruining something for you.

If fucking Jenkins from accounting is single handedly stopping the production line of your company, halving your companies profits, you are expected to just shut up and let it happen, and not be emotionally involved.

When in reality, you go to your boss, tell him whats happening, and then the boss says "What the FUCK are you doing Jenkins? STOP IT." If someone is causing a public disturbance at the park, making a scene, being offensive, whatever, you are expected to sit there and let it happen

When in reality you get fucking annoyed and angry, call the cops on his ass and he gets taken away.

If you recklessly cause an accident by driving into my fucking car, I am totally justified in being upset about it, You didn't just cause damage to yourself, you caused damage to ME.

When you single handedly lose a game, I am TOTALLY JUSTIFIED in being upset about it. Your actions affect EVERYONE ELSE, and I did not CHOOSE to be put with you. If you and the jungle feed darius 6 kills in 9 minutes it Is 100% reasonable to be angry about it. You aint just losing your own LP, you lost ME my LP too.

It's not "toxic" and it's not "abuse". YOU are causing a problem which has affects on the people around you. League is the farthest place from politically correct but nobody is allowed to say anything because that might hurt his baby feelings.

And before you say "This is totally different, it's a game!" No, it's not different. They are both public areas where you are forced to work with other people, the same rules still apply

Actually, you can talk to Jenkins in Accounting politely in regards to him halfing your production profits. If he understands it, he'll stop. But if he doesn't, then you report it to his boss, and let his boss deal with him.

If you went to Jenkins and go "FCK YOU JENKINS YOU SUCK SO BADLY, STFU AND QUIT ALREADY", you're boss will probably call you into the office and give you a scolding. If you did that to Jenkins repeatly, you'll probably get fired. Your boss will also tell you that Jenkin's actions will be dealt with by his boss, and he'll tell you to stop sticking your nose into it as its none of your business.

That .. kidda sounds like the same as league to me.

Every single example you state is a near exact parallel to what you are expected to do here in League. Someone gets frustrated with another person who isn't doing what they are supposed to (the toxic player), so then they turn to a higher authority (Riot) and that group takes care of the rest.

  • You don't confront the person not doing their job, you report them to your boss.
  • You don't confront the guy causing a disturbance, you call the cops and have them end it.
  • You don't get into a fist fight with the guy who wrecked your car, you have cops and others deal with that.
  • You don't call someone out for being toxic in League, you report them and let Riot take care of it.

Just like anywhere else in the world, you are not supposed to confront these players directly. The players are EXPECTED to report others that cause disturbances in League of Legends. Nothing happens to them without it.

In my opinion, this isn't true. At most work places, unless you are the supervisor and it is your job to say something, you are expected to inform the powers that be and not escalate the situation any further which would just incite further bad action. For what it's worth, this sounds just like league. If someone does something rude or bad you tell the powers that be and let them handle it. In most situations in life, it really is better to let those things go and just inform someone who can do something about it.

Well...None of the other mobas punish you for minor toxicity, yet they have a much more pleasant community. I wonder if forcing people to hold their anger untill it bursts out has something to do with that.

You know, there are other ways to relieve stress other than shit talking random people on a video game.

Your Cops analogy isn't that strong dude. In the real world if someone is disturbing the peace you call the cops and let them deal with it. And not every time you call them will the individual get arrested.

Similarly if you feel someone is disturbing the game you don't take matters into your own hands. You report them and move on.

Being frustrated with a player that is playing poorly is fine, but don't violate Riot's TOS.
