I've been reforming for the last 6+ Months

I've leveled a new account to 40 and honor level 3. I have requested Riot support to unban my main account however they have stated that regardless of how much I reform, they will never unban my account.

So is permabanning accounts really about toxicity? If i was banned for toxicity and I have demonstrated to not be toxic anymore, why would it be wrong to unban my main account? How long do i have to play to justify being unbanned? What level do I have to reach?

I haven't played very many games of league recently, and I'm considering to uninstall all together Is this honestly what Riot wants? For people to stop playing their game? Some people will say yes, so I suppose I should just uninstall.

But it seems very backwards and counter productive to me for a company to openly promote customers to stop playing their game. Especially ones who have demonstrated a reasonable effort of conforming to behavioral standards.

i'm curious what the community thinks. I have been playing league since winter of 2011.

The permanent ban is a punishment. The punishments before it are an attempt to get you to reform. The permanent ban is Riot wanting you to leave the community - and it's only applied to the small percent of the most consistently toxic players.

If you choose to come back, you can, but you're not going to get them to remove the prior punishments you've earned.

The permanent ban as a punishment would lose much of its gravity if it was removed later. Permanent means permanent.

Especially ones who have demonstrated a reasonable effort of conforming to behavioral standards.

If someone is showing that they're willing to conform to the behavioral standards and play by the rules, that's absolutely fine, and Riot's happy to have those people.

But this is a case of someone choosing to conform to behavioral standards and rules only after their account got permanently banned, with the expectation being that somehow, being nice after the fact (despite prior warnings) will be enough to justify revoking the ban.

There's a phrase that applies well here: "A day late and a dollar short."

When Riot gives you a 10-game Chat Restriction, they want you to reform and play by the rules.

When Riot gives you a 25-game Chat Restriction, they want you to reform and play by the rules.

When Riot gives you a 14-day ban, they're telling you that your misbehavior needs to stop, and they're warning you that you'll be permanently banned if you keep it up.

When Riot gives you a permanent ban, they're telling you "We don't want you playing our game anymore. We can't reasonably stop you from coming back, but if you do, let your previous account serve as a warning."

There is no level (in Honor or Account) where Riot would consider unbanning an account that was not banned in error. Permanent means permanent, and revoking the ban under any circumstances (outside of an unjust application of it in the first place) would completely cripple the effect of the punishment. Why worry about the repercussions for being toxic when you can just level up a "nice guy" account to go back to being toxic on your main later?

If the punishment system is to have any effect, the ultimate punishment for bad behavior has to be tangible. Losing your account - for good - is the most tangible form of punishment to be found at the moment. Which, again - if that loss could easily be overwritten by just playing the game to a certain point - be it "some level without punishment" or "some honor level" - there wouldn't be much point in the punishment existing in the first place, now would there?

Tell that to the pros who got unbanned due to being "Reformed". Riot likes to play the special needs fucking game and treat certain players who are rather important better than the rest of the community. Riot does not give the slightest shit about the community and will never admit to it out of sheer stubbornness. If Riot truly cared they would look past the money they make and unban long time banned players who have supported their game, but no, the payer base are just a series of gears in a clock working endlessly until they are broken, just to get tossed out and replaced because the creator could care less. Sad company tbh.

Every account is treated as a separate entity

So even if you ( Mordius) wanted to level it up to honor 5 and be diamond, it wont change anything of what happend to your perma banned account.

Its also because of this rule that you are even able to make a new account in the first place, every account is a separate entity as in a new slate, new person. If this wasnt in place then you woulda just been perma banned all together no matter how many accounts you tried to make.

Luckily for you riot doesnt IP bans.

and yes perma means youre not wanted in the community, so i mean this literally when I say no one cares if you decide to play or not.

Dont play = find a new game

Play = make a new account, pour hours and RP into it,

In either case RIOT wins not you.

The thing about punishments is if there is ever a way out they would never be taken seriously. I had an account perma banned. Ive been good on my new account. And even if I was given my old account back id never abuse that chance BUT I understand that I broke the rules. And sadly there are many many many people who would just abuse chances like that and ruin it for the good people

Let's go with that for a second and see what problems that would give.

Riot games would allow people to get their account back after they level another account to honor level 3.

All this would do is create a marked for people selling level 3 honor accounts. I could make an account and make it honor level 5 then gift it to you claiming that you were playing on it the whole time.

You could of course counter with that they could trace the IP, and that is true, but I could just claim that I had to switch to a VPN because of safety issues.

Unbanning old accounts is just not possible, there is no reasonable way for them to find out if you were the same person.

I have to disagree on this one.

Riot enjoys public executions. They can't bring you back to life or it wouldn't scare they commonfolk into being "non-toxic", whatever the fuck that means.

Unfortunately, permanent bans are never lifted. The only bans that get lifted are indefinite bans like Tyler1's.
