Why is it not possible to automatically detect role stealing?

I just had a normal with a level 25 smurf who was auto-filled to support, while I was given mid. It said 'i queue mid, i go mid.' It went mid along with me and spent the entire game trying to steal all of the CS.

Looking in it's history, it's done this every single time it's gotten auto-filled in the past month. For some reason, they're not banned.

What exactly is the reason this can't be detected? If the game knows which lane you went to, and one person is constantly in a solo lane they aren't queued for AND gets reported in these games (i.e. not a Taric + Yi strategy), what exactly is stopping the system from banning them?

you report role stealing under griefing.

but the thing is what if i salt report you for griefing, after a legitimate role swap?

inconsistencies like that are why not everything can be automated.

Lane stealing isnt bannable unless he actually trolls, as far as the game is concerned. You might be premade trying a new strat. Or he could be supporting mis

You know that for someone to be punished, they have to be reported, yeah? I could think of half a dozen things that might LOOK like role stealing but aren't. Did you report this person?

If you feel like this player was actively making your game a negative experience report them in the post game (as you had). If you feel this was negative and also done to avoid detection, file a Support ticket or message them on Twitter.
