I GOT PENALTY FOR NOTHING?

Alright, so I was logging on to play some ranked, and as most people who have me on their friends list know that my internet randomly DCs for absolutely no reason. I was in champion select with my friend and everyone was locked in and ready to go when just as the client closed for the game to pop up, my internet DCd me. I just sighed and told myself it was better now than in game, and it ends up crashing my computer too. I have to reboot it and i check back on, expecting nothing more than a leave penalty, those things that are for 5-8 mins, but instead I get greeted with a full on five-game 20 minute penalty. I had no control over this and I want at least for the penalty to be removed from my account (I'm not sure if y'all can do that but if you can please do). On top of it all, the match didn't even load in without me. The entire thing just cancelled (pointing that out in case its something to look into).

EDIT: Looking into my match history, the game actually loaded in, but then once I logged back on the game just flat out ended with no one winning. 3:23 was the time my match history provided. I could have loaded back into the game with no penalty what-so-ever and continued like nothing happened but something went wrong.

don't play if you have dc issue.

you got a penalty for having crappy internet. don't have crappy internet and you will not get that penalty.

plus you don't get the 5 game penalty for DC'ing just once, you only get it if you have a history of DC'ing which looks like that is the case. That last game was just the last strike before you got your penalty

It was likely a remake. After the 3 minute mark, the players can vote to remake a game that has a DC or an intentional feeder.

When I started, I did not have automatic updates turned off. I would be halfway through a game when my computer would restart, and then take 10 minutes to add all updates. I dealt with the 20 minute queue, which is a really, really long time to wait, but it forced me to do some research and change the settings on my pc. Haven't had an issue since.

I've been on the other side, and considering the 5-10 minutes it takes from queuing for a match to the time it actually starts, leaverbuster system does a great job. While DCs may not be the individuals fault, its definitely not the other 9 players fault that have an entire game ruined.

Sorry to hear that you got banned. However, you went into the game knowing full well that you had an unstable internet, and because you have a history of leaves/afks you were punished by Leaverbuster accordingly. LB only punishes those who have a history of leaves/afks. If you need to test out your internet then go into a custom game to do so since Leaverbuster only tracks modes that you have to actually queue up for (i.e. normals, ranked, co-op vs. ai, etc.). Regardless though it is your responsibility to make sure that you have a stable connection before playing. If you're unwilling to do that then expect to be constantly punished by Leaverbuster because of it.

People should be mindful of the conditions they play under. If Riot's servers go down, it's their fault. If your internet is unstable, it's yours. By knowingly playing ranked with your internet in its current state, you are putting the other people you play with, friends or not, at risk of a 4v5.

I do believe this should remain as a offense-able action, as it makes no difference at the end of the game whether someone has left willingly or is disconnected by the fault of their internet connection; it still ends with one team at a severe disadvantage that could have been prevented.
