Doubt that's all, post your full chat logs and we can point out what possibly triggered the punishment.

Why not just mute + report him instead of flaming him and adding more fire to the flames?
Riot only bans on comments that can pose a threat to real life i.e telling people to kill themselves, or if the person was insanely toxic.
Mute buttons exist, and remaining calm and ignoring people that flame is how you should play - with maturity.
Don't even trip. People are too soft nowadays to take everything in. Give them compliments and they will rage or report you, and get you banned still for giving compliments. Can get banned for anything nowadays.
Its been that way since 2015. Nothing new.
