League of Legends Has (Most Likely) Made You a Bad Person

I'm sure this isn't an original thought. There have probably been dozens of posts about this topic.

But it still has to be said.

This community is so toxic that people who play it don't even realize how warped their LoL version of morality has become.

I haven't played in a couple years. Decided to install and try it out again. I made the mistake of saying at the beginning, "hey guys, haven't played for a while, don't be too hard on me." I should have known that saying that to 4 LoL players would be like telling 4 sharks, "hey, I fell in the water, could you help me out?"--but having been away from this toxic community for a while, I simply behaved as normal people do in society. Of course my entire team starts insulting me, saying I suck, blaming every death they get on me, blaming me for the loss. I stayed calm and didn't insult anyone, which seemed to only upset them more. At the end of the game they all decided they were going to report me. Not only that, but they told the other team to report me, and the other team just agreed because they were asked to.

To try to make one of the guys understand that telling your teammates they suck doesn't help anything, I presented him with an analogy. I said, "Tom Brady is better than the other 52 players on his team. Do you think he constantly tears them down and says they suck?" The guy insisted that, yes, he thinks Tom Brady does, in fact, tell all his teammates that they suck. Because, according to this exemplary LoL player, they do suck so of course he tells them they suck.

Anyway, in the morality of LoL, if you join a game in which you are the lowest in skill level, and all 4 of your teammates insult you the entire game and report you, you're the problem.

I think I played over 4,000 games of League of Legends or something xD. I don't think anything/anyone had made a dent in the way I feel or act. I never feel stressed, anger, or whatever in any game modes such as Ranked. I never retaliate in a cocky/sly/mischievous manner, with no intention to further stir the flame or patronize my teammates or enemies. I never feel stressed, anger, or whatever in any game modes such as ranked (I always try to learn and do better, and do my best [it's fun]) despite the turmoils I have in games (feeders, trolls, flamers, etc.). If I'm unable to calm them down effectively (no patronizing, condescending, or rude words), I usually have to stay quiet. I don't have all teh wise words o' wisdom to support my teammates... yet xP? For others, if they seriously let something like this affect their mentality/personality/whatever, they probably didn't have the capability or mental development to withstand it. But it's like that for almost everyone, even presidents, doctors, police officers, hobos, bodybuilders. Mental development is a lot harder than physical development now in the growing technology world from what I've seen apparently.

First, let me apologize that you experienced that. The 4 players you played with sound like assholes.

However, I agree with Magic in regards to projection. . LoL, cannot make you do, be,or say anything. It's a piece of software. Disagree? Then go to your computer, open LoL and ask it to go to the store and buy some Milk. (I argued the absurd for clarity's sake, not to troll) if it can't respond to a request from you, it cannot likewise make a request on you.

As for this community, look it will always ultimately be up to the individual on how to react and deal with humanity in general let alone this community.

I've met just as many good natured people on this board and in game as I have bad natured people.

I hypothesize that a person is already bad if a game, movie, music, an internet post hypothetically causes one to be bad.

If you want and I haven't pissed you off further my comment I play every night. I'd be more than happy to play some norms w/you.

Hang in there.

I cant tell if this is you venting because you are new to the internet and blindly fed some baby trolls, or if this is mass projection.

I'm normally a pretty chill person and rarely get mad at people; this game actually had me lose it on one of my friends because the fed Zed kept 100-0ing me repeatedly and I felt I could do nothing about it, so I lost it and yell at my friend who was playing Jungle at the time. This game and how its designed just turns you against people.

Definitely flame more since I began playing LoL. Before 2012 I was a very chill dude. Than got toxier every year >.<

I didnt have anger issues until i started playing this shitty video game. Now i do. And i have 5-6 permabanned accounts. I was always nice towards the people online and didnt care if someone tried to argue with me online. But since i started playing this game, i get so angry after the smallest mistake made by my teammate. I get so triggered after every bad word said to me. It's ridiculous what this game has done to me.

I agree 100% and that why someone needs to shut the game down..however means are neccessary...

I took half a year off to deal with a stalker in real life. When I came back a lot had changed, but I still ended up knowing infinitely more than most of the community, and what was new, I re-learned in less than a week. I keep running into people who still don't know what the trinkets or support items do, even though it's been four goddamn years since they were created, or that there's a ward limit now, or what the dragons do.

By the way, I'm a support main. I'm forced to care about the well-being of my teammates, as much as I'd like to kill them the instant they become a liability to me. Whenever we overspecialize in AD melee assassin damage (which is always), I point out exactly what we are missing. No one has caught on yet, even after four hundred septillion cycles of the universe.

I like to think that LoL just gave me the right outlet to achieve my true final form.

I'll admit when I first started league I wasn't too toxic since I was playing the game for fun. After I while when I started to take the game more seriously I become pretty toxic (:/ sry for anyone I flamed back them). It took me a while but when I finally got to gold, I had super friendly and nice team mates pretty much every game. I dunno what happened, but I basically stopped being toxic. Not sure if this game actually made my mental health better (or worse), but I have finally realized that the mute option is one of the best features in the game :)

It gives me a place to vent my IRL anxiety. Its a lie of course. It just makes it easier to fake being normal.

To the title, false it simply magnifies the bad side that was forged long ago do to the scum of humanity.

Yeah then you take it for 20 games then call one moron inbred and get a 10 game chat ban, do that 3 times over a month and enjoy a ban every month. The system is flawed they know it we know it, the only thing that will change it is forcing them to follow real laws rather than made up ones they control the outcome of. Most of the toxic people i have met over the years of playing this have been non-north Americans. They come here with grudges and hatred, they want their turn to be hollywood and watch out they will tilt you in ways that only makes it easier for them.

All of league is based off this ideology:

tribunalisrigged8/30/2017, 10:19:07 PM1 votes

you're in a giant social experiment, they are using the meta data to learn ways to better control humanity. This whole thing stinks to high hell.

tbh, no, I think there are a bunch of psycopaths and sociopaths playing league, I think they would be the same even withouth league, I'd love to see more punishments to those kinds of peopple and I'd love to see all the servers using korea's system in wich your account is linked to your national id and if you get permabanned it includes your national id, I mean psycopaths won't change no matter what

YerroFever9/1/2017, 7:23:24 PM1 votes

Most likely made you a bad person? I don't know... I think it's made me a more patient person. I have a much higher tolerance to BS and can brush things off a lot easier after League because of having to deal with horrible people and watching their behavior devolve and thinking "shit I don't ever want to be like that person."
