Leaving the Game Intentionally VS Involuntary Disconnect (LeaverBuster)
The game prefers that all players be present in order to allow the game to be a good time for everyone. However, there are some less fortunate players who have to deal with their teammates "disconnecting". Sadly, I am one of the players who disconnect every now and then. I would like to discern that "disconnecting" is not "leaving" or "Abandoning a match or being AFK". I have been receiving punishments that have placed me in the ever-hated low priority queue, but the reason I have been placed there just doesn't make sense to me. The full dialog while waiting for the low priority timer to count down says "Abandoning a match or being AFK results in a negative experience for your teammates, and is a punishable offense in League of Legends. You've been placed in a lower priority queue." The problem here is that I didn't actually "Abandon a match" or go AFK, but rather, my internet just seemed to stopped working. In this case I believe it is unfair because it is actually my internet service provider who is causing not 9 but all 10 players to have a negative experience. I am proposing a solution that is based off of trust. After disconnecting, the player should have 1 hour to reconnect (My internet crashes for the rest of the game and then when I'm back, the game is already finished). If the player is able to reconnect within 1 hour, allow the player to inform the system of its internet service provider. Riot should then contact that internet service provider and work with them. The player should receive minimal punishment. This solution should work if Riot Games believes in giving all players a good experience, and the 1 hour limit should distinguish the people who actually left the game to go do something. To also show if the player can be trustworthy, allow a log of the program to be running to detect when the player has disconnected and when the player forcibly exits the game (via Alt+f4, clicking "Exit Game", End Task, etc.).
