I've had enough of whiney top laners

So let's get one thing outta the way really quickly. I am a top lane main, it's my favorite position in the game and I enjoy playing it most of the time. However, I'm silver elo so if you're challenger and a nark then this may not apply to you

That said though most top laners are super whiny and constantly complain about the game

Top lane currently has 56 champions that can play that role and the entire game has 141 champions in the game, so doing the math top lane covers barely more than 1/3 of champions in league of legends. These are all very diverse champions ranging from bruiser, tanks, lane bullys, mages like vlad, and if you're just that weird some assassins. Let's take a popular look at a well known top lane right now, Hashinshin(I'm not generalizing top lanes entire community so calm down) Hashinshin has repeatedly ranted about the state of top lane and how fucky it is. There are again 56 top lane champions in the game, which I'd imagine is very difficult to balance all of them, and even if they did balance all of them in a well-done manner, there are still 4 different roles they'd have to balance. Also, the top lane community doesn't seem to understand that the top lane player base is very large. All of them have different playstyles in mains mixed with several different champions which comes down to hundreds of possibilities. And whenever they get outplayed they complain, ping their jungler, bitch fit, and occasionally leave the game. Top laners also like to think they're the only lane in the game and constantly ping, and tell their jungle to gank after they lost to a teemo with ignite as malphite level 1. Now let's take another person who bitches about their role, Tyler1. Now the difference between Hashinshins bitching and Tylers bitching is that Tyler plays adc which has only 20 champions in that role, which sounds much easier to balance, plus Tyler's complaining is so funny while Hashinshins mocks riot like OmG RiOt YoU SuK AsS. Now the reason I've been mentioning Hashinshin so much in this shitpost is that many people follow him, and I'm sure almost all of his fanbase consists of top lane players from low elo. Which are people I play against. So people follow him and copy him and he promotes that.

you haven't experienced true whine untill you've supported an overly entitled adc (aka most of them)

As for why top laners tend to be whiny, I'll copy my response from a similar thread:

There are a few gameplay explanations for that.

In most cases, it is not in the jungler's best interest to assist top lane. Mid lane can roam alongside the jungler and is often a burst character to kill the enemy ADC, and bot lane has the best scaling potential along with the fact helping bot means helping two players instead of just one.

At the same time, top lane is the most duel-heavy with the least opportunity to spike from behind. At mid, you might be able to overcome a 0/2 start as soon as you get your first item because the first finished items for mid are all massive power spikes. But at top lane, that's entirely constricted by your champion. Tanks aren't going to spike from finishing Sunfire, especially if they're against an enemy whose first item directly counters theirs (Cleaver), and similar fighters are just going to be behind the enemy regardless, because their kits generally revolve around stats instead of mechanics. (Note that Gangplank and Irelia's spikes with Trinity are exceptions)

So it's a lot harder to get back from behind as a top laner, and it's not in your jungler's best interest to help you if you're floundering. So you're stuck playing a losing game with little help.

Of course, you being a top laner, already know these things. But may have forgotten to take them into account when addressing what seems to be a relatively high number of player complaints compared to other roles.

While I agree about most of what you said , Hashinshin has nothing to do with most of Top laners suffering and whining , it's just the nature of the lane , not to forget that any champion can be played in Top , almost all champions can be played , I played Lulu vs Camille played Ashe vs a lot of match ups and won

The thing is Top lane is full of BS Match ups , 1 Death from a gank can put you out of the lane for a while

there are also match ups such as Darius , or even Illaoi that can double kill you and your jungler

Then a jungler ganks Top , the Top laner gets pissed off now he burnt his Flash and his TP , and then you would go to ward that bush and find that the enemy jungler is there again , the Top laner dies and mostly will rage quit Especially that 1 death can mean a lot

I've had enough of whiny players in general, toplaners or not since it is the exact same thing for every other lane and role.

I'm kind of tired of people complaining about:

-An ally picking X campion for Y lane with Z summoner and/or W rune. Like, who gives a shit. At this elo (silver) they are just as likely to lose/win their lane/jg as you are with your meta pick. And of course it happens just as much outside of ranked. Just. As. Much. I, an adc main that mostly plays marksmen, often end up playing support to stuff like an autofilled lane partner that picked MonkeyKing or Shaco. And that's fine. They are not idiots or trolls just because of that, jesus. Sometimes they even CARRY, because Silver.

-Performance of teammates. Some people are not good at the game. They don't know how to chain CC with allies or have slow reactions to engages, they don't know they shouldn't be pushing without vision, they don't even know what pushing a lane is or that you should probably punish that enemy Thresh that just failed to land his Q in lane. They don't remember it's not always the best option to flash-ult dive everybody in ARAM SionAniviaZac. They don't know what jungle pathing is or how to gank properly with pre-level 6 Warwick. And it can be tilting and annoying some times, but if you're gonna say something about it, like, what they are doing wrong and what yhey should be doing right, the least you can do is not be a whiny ass that spams "Why do I get stuck with this team, x9 Orianna" in /all chat.

-Unbalanced champions or items. This is relatable some times Jhin with certain builds, but generally it's just a matter of you underestimating a given champion's strenghts and being overconfident. Sometimes it's just missplaying/outplaying and you put the fault of that in the champion, or Riot, or other players. I hate BlitzcrankBrandKhazix because they can abuse people that are out of position or that don't really know what they're doing; people who get next to jungle walls/bushes without vision, stay clumped together in a teamfight or wander the map alone respectively, and can win a game single-handedly just by tilting your teammates (or yourself) into becoming these annoying whiney toxic little brats that can no longer focus and understand what they did wrong. Yet I can't ban them all and sometimes I have to play against them, and I DEAL WITH IT. You just deal with it. No need to insult or rage or call you a noob-champ abuser only to make the experience even less enjoyable than it already is.

And don't even get me started on those junglers that facecheck the Baron bush at 35 minutes while we are all defending base with two inhibs down and immediately calls your whatever-laner out for feeding that Darius. Dude, it's your fault. Stop. The. Whining. It doesn't solve anything.

And I don't know Hashinshin but that kind of behavior is sometimes seen as cool because it creates an illusion of wittiness and badassery. Or maybe people just like to circlejerk.

Cause toplane is cancerous right now? Have you seen the most played champions in that lane fuck me.

Irelia Jax Jayce Darius Garen Tryndamere Aatrox Akali Fiora Gangplank (almost always with grasp) Illaoi Kled Kennen Renekton Riven Rengar Sion

Like, literally 90% of them can one shot you, or CC your entire team. SOME CAN DO BOTH.

So imagine how your feeling when you know how dangerous their Irelia is when ahead, she just got a kill from her junglers gank and you KNOW you can delay her unstoppable onslaught of snowball with a successful gank from your jungler (hopefully also taking her tower), with this optimism in mind you move your hand to your mouse and do it, you do a single 'assist me' ping at your junglers location only to be met with:

'SHUT THE FUCK UP TRASH SHIT TOPLANE FUCKING RETARD MAIN FUCKING LOST CAUSE CANT WARD XDDD MUTED + REPORTED'

10 MINUTES LATER

Enemy triple kill! Irelia

'Report toplane int feed + spam ping flame ty'

I'm a support main now, but I used to main top lane. ADCs have the biggest egos, but top laners are the biggest whiners. I don't whine in the chat, but I always used to complain to my friends. Top laners tend to act this way because they're cut off from the rest of the match so their perspective can be wonky at times. I notice a lot of top laners play so many different champions, but only one lane.

The majority of them don't roam until much later in the game, so it is generally a 1v1 and some of the match ups are not forgiving.

Currently junglers focus on mid lane due to their roam potential, so mid lane gets ganked and counter ganked a lot. The reason they do that is because they want the mid laner to roam bot, get kills, and then have them all secure tower and dragon. That way their ADC is scaling nicely into late game while the enemy ADC is generally going to be on life support. This sets off a chain reaction that consumes the entire match, no matter if the top laner did well, unless it is Irelia .

I've had so many 1/3 top laners say, "uM wHeN aM i GoInG tO gEt A gAnK??????" meanwhile the match is spiraling out of control with a fed ADC threatening to engulf the entire match. At the same time they'll still be building damage.

The great thing about top lane is most of them can bounce back easily late game as long as they don't pick something cheesy and get outplayed. Teemo

A lot of the champions played there are great split pushers too. I can see what they mean when they feel like their lane is ignored, but I'm so tired of 1/3 Tryndamere asking where his gank is when the 4 man gank has hit bot twice.
