I wouldn’t say it’s destroying the game, but it is annoying. As a Sup main I’m fine and don’t get long queues. If people want shorter queues they’re more than welcome to learn support/jg and play that role occasionally.
My main thing is that IMO, a longer queue time creates more drive to win (atleast that’s how I felt back when autofill wasn’t a thing). People really want to win after waiting 5-15 min in queue for a game and also don’t want to go back into waiting 15 min in queue after a 20 min game, so it increases people wanting to see how late game pans out if they’re losing early which might reduce the whole “Jg died to tank, we’re 0/3 5 min in. FF15” afk farm attitude so many people have now.
Don’t know how many people I see pick Orianna into our Nasus, Sej, Sivir, Soraka comp and don’t want to play until late game.
Also, long queue times gives people time to cool down after bad games whether they want that time or not. That’s also why I think so many people carry their tilt/toxicity into multiple games. They flame all game/post game lobby and then queue and get another game 30 seconds later. People may also use their critical thinking a lot more and be more open to building strong team comps due to the weight of the time it took to get into the game.
TL:DR
Long queue times might create more incentive and drive to win and bring down people ready to FF 15, and a long queue time may reduce tilt/poor decision making in champ select because the players are forced to wait in queue.
