DEAR RIOT: I Have a Plan, or We Have a Plan (help me out, guys)

I'm long winded, so I'm going to try to sum this up, then talk a lot:

I have some ideas and thoughts on toxicity and punishment in the league community. I'd like an option for queuing up that disables reporting, at least to an extent, and you will only be matched with other people with that option selected. Bear with me, please. And, also, please offer your ideas to try to help make this a more fleshed out plan. I will edit this post to assemble the collected ideas in a neat list after the fact.

I've been reading a lot of posts about punishment, especially given my recent experiences. And something stood out to me. Some people found the league community more fun and interesting when it was more toxic. People were a bit more free and chatty. And I'll admit, having a troll on a bad day to argue with was kind of great sometimes because it let you vent out some aggression against someone who is being a jerk.

AND I KNOW: Riot doesn't/shouldn't reward toxic players.

BUT SOMETIMES YOU'RE GETTING REPORTED NOT BASED ON HOW TOXIC YOU ARE, BUT HOW SENSITIVE THE PEOPLE YOU WERE MATCHED WITH ARE.

You see "toxic" isn't always toxic to everyone. Vulgarity isn't a problem with everyone. Some people really are joking when they tell you to drink bleach. I'm not saying that it's an appropriate joke, but I know for a fact that some people would laugh at that, then tell them to snort crystal drain-o, just for fun. Maybe people are saying "your mama jokes" back in forward. A really sensitive person might report you for that. Maybe they escalate until someone less sensitive gets offended and reports you because you went too far, even if the joke wasn't directed at them. I've seen some really funny things said in chat-logs that people have been reported for.

Some people can take that kind of stuff. Some people could really use the outlet from either in-game frustration or real life stresses. Some people have some messed up senses of humor. And, I'd imagine, a lot of these people aren't trying to be toxic, exactly. Some probably refrain from expressing themselves enough to not be considered toxic at all. But that might not exactly be a good thing either. Repressing something tends to cause bigger problems down the road. I would imagine a person who gets mad at a situation immediately instead of trying to not think about it has less stress in the long run. And some people just don't talk at all in-game and can simply "turn off" chat. ALSO: This seems kind of important to me. Some people really can't control themselves. I mean, like because of a mental disorder. Meaning they can't stop getting angry, no matter how many times you ban them, and it's hard to put all that blame on them for that.

So, tell me Riot, would this be difficult to do? How about a trial run on it? Just to see where the numbers are at. How many people are okay with some verbal abuse here and there, knowing that they too are free to say whatever messed up thing they want too? I'm also curious as to how toxic the environment in those queues will be.

Give us a place to let loose, to be the imperfect, sometimes impolite, human beings that we are.

I welcome the feedback, and I'd like your thoughts on this. I expect some trolling and people saying you just simply shouldn't act that way, (similar to the "you got punished because you're toxic, no matter what you say, the punishment system of League of Legends is love, punishment etc... is life" replies) but like i said, people are people, and most of us are perfectly capable of being polite and decent even if our sense of humor can get us reported sometimes. But if you do have an idea on some restrictions to this, please say so.

IF YOU DON'T LIKE THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR, ever, then i ask that you please be constructive. This isn't a post for you, exactly, though I do hope that it will filter the more toxic and "toxic" elements out of your games.

I'm kind of hoping that if we can get a cohesive enough plan together, Riot might take this seriously because there hopefully won't be as much work to do on it.

One such system already exists, is called team full of friends.

As of such system, is all flowers and rainbows until someone blames that system for their bad behaviour.

Reports =/= punishment.

The standard of what is toxic was set by the community, through the things they reported. So if something counts as toxic, you an be damn sure nearly everyone who plays the game thought so.

And FYI, I'm not suggesting this for ranked. I think you need to be able to control yourself to be considered mature enough to play ranked.
