We Need To Talk About Champ Select

I'm noticing a pattern of behavior that stands out as malicious and self-centered (things I feel League doesn't want to endorse), but has no form of moderation. It's becoming a tendency for "teammates" to ban the champions that other teammates want to play in champ select.

While you could argue, "just play another champ," which is inevitably happening, the fact of the matter is there are people that are allowed to forcefully undermine other players and--say if a player leaves out of frustration--simply move on to another champ select without any repercussions. If this is something as simple as not noticing your teammates intended pick, that's one thing--which, in and of itself defeats the purpose of the new dynamic queue champ select outright--but to do it out of spite or just for attention and then suffer no punishment for it SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING REPEATEDLY.

It's become a routine of necessity to block people whilst still in champ select to ensure that I never have to cross paths with them again, which fixes a portion of the problem. However, the cause of the problem never undergoes any form of change, and my opinion is that these malicious players will just repeat the behavior over and over again with no impetus to change.

Also, as a point of clarification, I'm usually a...vitrolic player (and I'm sure I've been on the tribunal chopping block more times than there are letters in my summoner name), but that's specifically because I have very, very rarely ever felt like I actually played a game of league WITH a team.

Again, this is entirely on me, I'm sure if I tried hard enough I could work up a consistent group of people to play with and work on team dynamics. But, is that to say that I should never expect cohesion and allegiance when I queue alone? Should I be shocked that Christmas came early when I actually get teammates who don't antagonize each other quite literally from the moment they interact with each other?

No.

I genuinely like League of Legends. I like the majority of the lore and the entirety of the gameplay except for Yi, who should be removed from the game. But I'm stuck right now because I can't conceptualize playing a game of league without having knowing that in some way, before I even get into a game, I'm going to suffer some form of antagonism without ANY recourse available to me other than hoping I never deal with the person again.

It affects more players than myself, and I may not be the best spokesperson as I do, admittedly, unleash my aggression unnecessarily at teammates in moments of frustration. I just have no sense that there's any intention on making the player base any less hostile toward each other, even with the new "teamwork and strat" veneer that we've recently applied to champ select.
