Because there are different standards for customers vs employees.
This is the case with most businesses.
Caveat: usually the standards are more stringent for the company employee than for the customer (think: must wait until item has been on clearance for 24 hours before it can be purchased by a store employee) but in some cases there are standards which are less strict (dealer discounts on automobiles, deep discounts on floor modles or scartch & dent products, stock options, etc).
Also, if a Riot employee is toxic in game they'll be subject to in-game sanctions, and if they are toxic in the job field there are disciplinary sanction. They don't necessarily go hand in hand.
A guy could be great and kind in the game, and a terrible employee who never shows up for work on time and always has a bad attitude.
Likewise, a person could be an oustanding and intelligent employee and be total jerk in the game.
Each action will have its own consequence - and depending on the company there might even be overlap.
