Trapped in a losing game

Why is it that I would get punished for leaving a hard loss, but not the people voting "no" to quit I get that "you're supposed to persevere" through threat of ban. But when it's an 8-10% chance to win after you lose first inhib and they're 30 kills ahead, why the hell should I be forced to stay as long as the enemy can keep killing us at spawn

If you ever feel "trapped" in a video game then I don't think you are approaching with the right mindset or playing for the right reasons. There is always an opportunity to improve as a player even when the game is a likely loss. There is always the chance to make a nice play and create a fun moment. And besides that, a 10% chance is significant. Quit 10 games like that and you're trowing away a win. When you figure to move up a division means you have to win about 8 more games than you lose over the course of even a hundred games ... why would you throw away one win for free?

Surrendering requires unanimous or majority vote based on the game time. Before majority favor, a game is either not 'unwinnable' or so tilted that the game isn't likely to last long enough for a majority vote.

After majority favor, if the surrender vote fails, MOST OF YOUR TEAM DOESN'T WANT TO SURRENDER.

No, that's not why you're supposed to continue playing. You're supposed to continue playing because you should see what happens and it's in your own best interest to play out the match.

Want to know the best way to ensure that you don't climb? Surrender your ranked games. 100% loss.

A 10% chance to win is still better than 0%. It's a video game, try to have fun and you might be surprised at the results.

If you have a 10% chance to win a game, you should still play it out. If you assume a game averages 30 minutes and the surrender vote comes at 20 minutes, the 10% chance to win costs you 10 minutes. However, the value of that 10 minutes isn't just one game, it's two. If you don't take that 10 minutes to try and win, then it will definitely take you 2 games (approx: 1 hour) to get to where you would be if you stayed and won. Of course, there's a 90% chance that you lose and you still end up an hour behind, but spending 10 minutes to have a 10% chance to save an hour is a solid bet that you should make every time.

I think most people here are making a good point. And besides all of that - even if you really don't care about the loss - you have to respect that you committed to play a team game, and if the team doesn't support a surrender by 80% majority then that means you have committed to finish the match. I think this is a fair expectation. If it's not for you, perhaps seek out single player games.

Because then they would basically be allowing everyone to leave once theyve personally deemed it to be "unwinnable". That sounds like ass. Just whenever you want, you can leave because you think its unwinnable. How would that be better?

8 to 10 percent. How do you ascertain that. By what metrics. Also perhaps your teammates need that 10 percent win. It's not on you to quit whenever you want. That's what single player is for
