Confused by permaban

To my knowledge I have never had a previous suspension or even a recent chat ban (to my memory I have not even had a chat ban but my account is many years old so it is possible I guess). I did not use any extreme profanity, or anything homophobic, sexist, racist etc comments. I'm not claiming I don't deserve some penalty for my behavior, but I am completely confused as to why it was a permaban and not something more appropriate as a first line. The automated bot cited that I was reported x number of times in y games, but that honestly seems absurd if people can arbitrarily report you and a sheer number rather than actual content results in a permaban as a first approach. I am fine with my logs being posted as again, I am not claiming to be underving of a penalty, I am just confused by the severity of the penalty.
