That 20 minute Leaver on a remake?

Dear League Community,

The above post had a poll improperly worded; "Have you ever been given a leaver buster undeservedly?"

  • I'm certain those cases are extremely rare. I'll edit the poll and put it below to read: "Have you ever been given a leaver buster low queue priority penalty?"

Please allow me to create space for criticism and feedback, and hopefully give you a glimpse into the dark future laying in front of my Acct.........

I for one, am thankful Riot has taken our concerns and complaints seriously and decided to do something about player reports and honor code. I do not struggle with being reported so long as I make it through the game. If you're a toxic player, or a troll during ranked, or just quit, your behavior should be corrected or you should be penalized and such behavior successfully discouraged.

I don't often take to the boards, and when I do it is usually out of frustration. My apologies for taking my tilted thoughts from the Rift to the Boards and ranting about my own afk. Obviously, if I have 20 min. Leaver Busters I've had issues with this before. I've had my acct for 4 years or so now, and I started it on a macbook with shoddy Public University Wifi and often would get bumped from games. So yes, often I deserve a penalty or some type of player behavior modification system so that my personal issues (phone call, wifi, bathroom, fell asleep during load, passed out face on keyboard) don't affect the rest of the community.

But, I want to be a part of this community, and I know there are a lot of people out there like me who enjoy playing LoL and are stuck in Bronze, and etiquette and seriousness and punctuality and "invading" are lost most games. So you tunnel vision on yourself and your own play, and end frustrated because this is a team game, and your teammates let you down. Trust: I've been on both sides and it sucks.

So help me? ...

Not helpful:
- "you suck kys and leave the game, we're better w/o you" - "Leaver system works! taking out the trash!" - "Don't afk! It must be chronic! It's your fault"

Those are great, but not helpful. I am aware I created this problem, but now what? Get a new account? Can't I redeem this one?

You see, for those of you still reading, and likely you've never dealt with Leavers, but once you hit the 20 min Leaver you don't get credit for being good so that the Leaver is reduced if it happens again way in the future after long periods of no afks. Boom afk a couple times in a week or dc during load and get remade before you can get back in, you've got yourself another beautiful 5 game set of 20 min ques, and low priority teammates. Commence downward spiral of depression and Toxicity.

*** I was trying to work this off today when 18 min into my LB the system boots me out of party for maintenance *** - There is no process to appeal this. Gripe to riot about Leaver System and the robot smacks you for talking back.

All I'm asking is, is there a way to help the community and the players who struggle with this work on their own behavior w/o "The MAN" locking them up and taking away their rights?

Can we find a new player w/in first 3 min to fill afk spot?
Can we create a merit system where chronic afker's/LB sufferers can work and earn back completely clean slate? Should I just stop trying??

That's.. the first time I've heard a decent idea in a while.

Matchmaking is fast enough of a system that it's possible that it could find new players for a game with an afk in the first 3 minutes of the game, while not changing the skill level matchup all that much. However, you then run into the fact that that person would still have to load in, and their loading wouldn't start until the game did. Some people take 2-3 mins to get in the game, which still puts your team at a disadvantage.

And then there's the issue of what role/champion do they play? Does this new person have to only play the role/champ that the other player had picked? Are they allowed to switch champ, but must keep the same role?

I just don't know how feasible this is for the amount of programming I can presume it would take. But it's still the darn best idea I've seen in a while.
