Is it a bannable offence to give your lane opponent pointers on how to play against you?

It runs a fine line between being sportsmanlike and assisting the enemy team.

EDIT: Wow, downvotes for a guy asking a genuine question?

It depends on your team, and whether or not the opponent wants tips. If it's a normals and if they ask a question directed to me in all chat of course I'll answer, they are seeking knowledge. If it's ranked I'll wait until after the game to answer any questions they have. If they don't ask I won't offer any advice, not because they don't need it, but because some people don't want it.

To me the line is not so fine. Questions/tips regarding general game knowledge fall under being sportsmanlike, where as current game knowledge (where the jungler is, if this or that bush is warded) falls under assisting the enemy team.

Giving general advice and tips? Sure, why wouldn't that be okay?

Telling them the positioning of your hidden allies, where your wards are, etc is where it becomes assisting the enemy.

General knowledge that everyone can learn is fine, but game knowledge specific to your game (cooldowns, information the enemy team does not have access to in-game, etc) is not.

I think you're good.

id say a tip and there doesnt hurt. besides, they have to apply the knowledge, and thats from their own brain, you arent beating yourself so no i dont think its assisting.

I tend to agree with most people here... it's fine to give tips as long as it's not going to affect the current flow of the match. If it's a ranked match, I usually tend to save it for the post-game lobby, just so there's no chance of my team thinking that I'm trying to help the enemy, and also because I'm trying to focus on what I need to be doing during the match. If I'm in a 4 or 5 premade normal with friends, I will often stop and type during base trips, or when dead, if it's something that can be answered quickly.

Depends on what the tip is and how you phrase it. I had a Blitz that kept pulling the Ali to me in lane as an Ashe while there was a Jhin. I told him kindly that it was not helpful and he stopped and aimed for the Jhin.

I mean I think it depends on how late it is in the game...if you're already winning the game and no chance of them coming back then probably not...if it's early enough for them to make a comeback then I'd say yes....but it can always wait to end game lobby to be safe if they want to wait around to find out

It shouldn't be but there are some crazy oversensitive people in this game just looking to be martyrs for something so you never know

Someone would have to be mentally deranged to suggest this is "assisting the enemy team." Unless you provide them with information not available on the minimap or you don't attempt to play as well as you can, there are no grounds for this.

I've done it plenty and never gotten in trouble. Really depends on how salty your teammates are about you being helpful. Some will get mad, others won't care. If all else fails you could add the person after the game and give them tips. I don't see any reason to report it, it's being a good sport and at the end of the day this is just a game.

This obviously just applies to tips, telling the other team where your teammates are is just bad.

I tell people how to beat me as Darius all the time. Bait out my e, avoid my q or get in the range of it, avoid long fights due to passive bleed, etc etc. I've never gotten any negativity from that.
