chat penalty system is unreasonable

Me to RIOT: I would like to complain that your chat penatly system is too severe. It's not fair to the player that they are in constant jeopardy of being penalized for blowing off a little steam especially when another player can use passive aggressive statements or actions, or bait someone into an arguement, or refuse to cooperate and cause a loss, and then in return report me for being negative because I complain in the game. I'm not even swearing. This is the only online game that I've played so far that even has a system like this. You can go live and say whatever you want, but if you type it youre penalized. If RIOT feels back and forth aggressive chat between players is such a point of contention, then why even allow a chat at all? Or why not just ban the chat feature for repeat offenders instead? What's more is that there is a mute feature in chat, but instead of using it, players just bait each other into arguements and then your system penalizes over the ensuing conversation. If there are people that are so sensitive over chat then why don't you just obligate them to mute the "aggressive" player instead of constantly making reports because they get their feelings hurt over nothing? The chat penalty system is broken and unreasonable.

I "blow off steam" by clapping bitches on the rift, not flaming people.

People abusing the chat feature doesn't mean that it shouldn't exist.

Or why not just ban the chat feature for repeat offenders instead?

They tried that already. People who would have normally received perma-bans for their behavior just resort to non-chat methods of poor behavior when chat was taken away. If the player consistently refuses to behave themselves despite several warnings and punishments, blocking one outlet doesn't deter them. They just choose a different outlet.

What's more is that there is a mute feature in chat, but instead of using it, players just bait each other into arguements and then your system penalizes over the ensuing conversation. Muting is encouraged, but that doesn't absolve you of the responsibility over your own behavior. The mute feature is there so a player doesn't have to further deal with poor behavior in chat. It doesn't take back the poor experience that encouraged the mute in the first place.

Welcome to Riot Games, where we employ people who shit all over our community while banning said community for sticking a toe across an invisible line.

I think this game should be played without emotes, just pings and ping mutes if it annoys you. That solves all the toxicity in this game.

Banning people for arguing but letting players like the one in linked thread int 50+ games in very obvious fashion... biggest joke of a system ever.

Believe me I sent them a follow up with an extremely throughout essay on this subject.

The TLDR is that they are punishing the symptom, not the cause of toxicity. I do not defend racist/sexist/Overly personal attacks on ANY player, but I've had 9 chat bans on one account and I've NEVER attacked a player for anything except their performance in the game in question.

I also ended with the mention that the current system was set up by former employee "Riot Light" and we all know how that turned out...

So if something has the potential to be abused, it shouldn't exist? Why do the police punish you for breaking the road rules instead of just banning cars? Or instead of punishing you for threatening people over the phone when they could just hang up on you they could just get rid of phones!

You can go live and say whatever you want, but if you type it youre penalized.

Then the obvious solution to your problem is to say it live.
