The fundamental difference between a once and done, and a multiple time offender.

There is a large gap between being a person who breaks a rule once, and doesn't do it again (for a while at least) and someone who does it consistently. If you leave one game every few months early, for a reason like say... forgetting that you needed to pick your grandmother up from the airport and starting a game, having to leave about twenty five minutes in. Or snapping at an overly toxic player once, because everyone has their mental limits. These are issues yes, but they happen few and far between. And generally the rule breaker is upset that they did wrong and try not to do it again. Then there are people who consistently break the rules. Those who constantly vocally abuse team members, or leaving games early all the time. These people are the ones who are the biggest problems, and they also happen to be the ones who get the most upset when their inevitable ban comes in. People complain about Riot's report system, as it is all automatic and doesn't actually feel like a real person is trying to solve these toxicity problems. But we should be thankful that it only punishes those who break rules multiple times, and those who break rules every once in a while. Thank you for listening, and have fun out there.

i think the biggest problem is that the majority of ppl i encounter dont get that asking to report someone is toxic. hell if i watch a bronze stream i see "report xy pls" EVERY GAME at least 3 times from the same dude.

I agree there is a huge difference. Unfortunately, they didn't program the system properly to account for anything more than just that one or two games where you've just had enough.

I liken it to car insurance. You could have a perfect driving record, but that one time you get into an accident, your premium goes up even tho you've been a safe driver. In this instance, you could be a non toxic person, but have say 4 games of just finally having it, and suddenly you're chat banned for 10 games and shut out of hextech for at least a week or two.

That's not a good system. The system should determine who's CONSISTENTLY TOXIC, who's constantly verbal abusive, and in fact, it should be a little harder on those that use hate speech. Right now, the system will honestly let you get away with one to two games of hate speech before it acts on it. it's no longer an "instant" system as through research I've seen them not ban someone for a previous game but instead wait til the game AFTERWARDS to ban. In fact, most punishments happen at the champion select screen which is a detriment to everyone else playing as they are immediately thrown back into an incredibly long queue.

Let's not even get started on the fact that we don't receive feedback from our reports on if a player is punished unless it's OUR SINGLE REPORT that triggered it.. it doesn't matter if you and your team reported the person, those other people? Do not get any notifications, which will in turn lead to people constantly thinking the system DOES NOT WORK as it's not providing player feedback proving that it does. hell, there's no system in place that shows where our account status is on if our reports count for less unless you send riot 5 bucks and a handwritten letter.. Great money grubbing idea there..

But the problem is, I'm not thankful. We get labeled as the same "toxic person" under the system and even under the opinions of SJW-like fanboys here. There's little differentiation, especially with the new reward/reform system in place.

To those who blow up few and far between at those who are unbearable, we've been punished. But to be put in the same boat as those who do that consistently? Bleh. There's also no need to reform any behavior, as those few incidents occurred within a few consecutive games on a single day. The only thing to reform is to "not" retaliate to that degree or at all, but I don't think that counts as reformation. And I'm not about to pretend to be someone I'm not (being overtly nice to the point where its disingenuous) just to receive rewards.

Or snapping at an overly toxic player once, because everyone has their mental limits

Is there a massive difference though? It's not as big a difference as you think, according to the automated system there is not. You say everyone has their mental limits.

That limit can be met with an overly toxic player. Therefore if you get an overly toxic player in multiple games that set you off, the overly toxic player can be seen as the 1 and done and not be banned, yet collectively the several "1 and done's" create other "1 and done's" which then create repeat offenders.

THAT is why the system is wrong.

I prefer the clarity of a cumulative demerit point system.

and doesn't do it again (for a while at least) and someone who does it consistently.

Before we get into these various excuses, because people post these things all the time, like there is always one poster who is a 'A NEW DAD" and tells the forum in an angry tone that if his sick baby daughter needs something that that is more of a priority than some stupid game, and hat...etc etc..

The fact of the matter is, the system already works this way for AFK's., if you don't AFK for a long time, eventually you are seen as "reformed" and given a "you are a good person" message in the client, "keep up the good work"

(not sure if chat restrictions work the same way)

After playing hundreds of games, i can count on one hand how many times I've intentionally had to leave or crashed not been able to get back in.

furthermore, the more LAX you make the system , the more it can and will be exploited. leaving a game screws FOUR OTHER PEOPLE. Why not think about how inconsiderate this type of behavior is even once.
