Just another day in the life of Silver tier. Feels like Matchmaking needs fixed.

I had a day off today so played some marathon League ranked. Fell from S1 to S3 today, going 1-8 in 9 matches. Here's what happened to my team in each game along with my individual performance.

  1. Loss (Bot, 36 min match). My Riven died 7 times to Pyke in the first 11 minutes. I ended 5-5-3
  2. Loss (Jungle, 19 min match). My Akali died 8 times to Zed in the first 14 minutes. We couldn't catch up. I ended 1-2-6.
  3. Loss (Supp, 35 min match). In a turn of events, my Yasuo died to Akali a whopping 9 times in lane. I ended 5-3-8.
  4. Loss (Jungle, 21 min match). Our bot lane combined to go 3-18 during the match, unable to avoid Thresh Qs. I ended 3-3-1.
  5. Victory! (Jungle, 18 min match). Everything clicked, every position won. I ended 8-0-7.
  6. Loss (Jungle, 25 min match). Despite my early kills on Master Yi, he began camping our bot lane who didn't ward and pushed hard. Our Yuumi was a first time trying her out, and our Cait had no idea what Yuumi did. I ended 5-6-3, trying to help out lanes.
  7. Loss (Support, 26 min match). Their whole team massacred us, driven by their Darius. Our Garen died twice pretty quickly, declared "I'm 0LP anyway I'm done" and announced he was giving up around the 4 minute mark. Continued to die often. I ended 3-5-3.
  8. Loss (Jungle, 21 min match). Our support in lobby asked someone to dodge so he could play with a friend. He then said "I only play Soraka support" and then he banned soraka himself. Picked Ornn, ended up 3 levels below everyone else from backing and going on and off AFK. I ended 1-5-4, desperately trying to help the lanes.
  9. Loss (Bot, 34 minute match). My support Nidalee declared he was on his alt account and was only here to spoil Game of Thrones. Proceeded to allchat spoilers and go 2-18 in the process. This was the only actual inting I saw. I went 2-6. Mostly because when the game was inevitably over, they kept Jarvan ult tower diving us and we couldn't do much about it. I was 2-2 until the last few minutes when they were just base camping. Rip.

As you can see, most games were just about over within 10 minutes, mostly when one of my lanes fed. At this rank, one fed carry is all it takes since there's no VOIP or any real community to coordinate strategy with. My personal performance generally greatly exceeded my team average - not just talking KDA, but general playing. But, it's a team game, and I can win my lane but if the others lose, I lose the LP too. I just wish there was more I could do to help guide people. I advise on strategies, and am never listened to. In Match #3, I advised Yasuo to hug tower. He said "I'd rather die than not even try to farm." It strikes me as so odd that I'm playing with these kinds of people, and I feel powerless, like the game outcome is so often out of my control. I'm only 1 of 4 people, after all, and while I can advise of strats, I can't make them follow it.

Your individual performance is not important. Games are not won by kills, deaths, assists, CS, or neutral objectives. They are won, quite simply, by the first team to kill the enemy nexus.

As you can see, most games were just about over within 10 minutes, mostly when one of my lanes fed.

None of your games were over within 10 minutes. In fact, your shortest loss was 19 minutes long - a whole 9 minutes where you have "given up". I get that you may feel like the team is losing. But you have not lost until your nexus falls. If you, however, decide to have a defeatist or "go next" attitude about it, you're cementing a loss that is not certain. Again, it's the first nexus to fall. I guarantee you someone on your team could've been splitting while you guys defended.

At this rank, one fed carry is all it takes since there's no VOIP or any real community to coordinate strategy with.

Chat is perfectly useful for coordination. Furthermore, please keep in mind that even with VOIP, others aren't going to listen to what you say. Sometimes you have to "bite the bullet" and just do what they want you to, in the hopes that they'll play better when you cooperate with them.

My personal performance generally greatly exceeded my team average - not just talking KDA, but general playing.

No it didn't. Your team average was one nexus fallen before the enemy team. That is all that matters for a loss. And all of you had the same result. While you may have been more "fed", that just puts you in a position to be the one on your team to help. If your teammates were dying, why weren't you. If you're playing "above average" in a loss in KDA/etc, why? If all you care about is being the best on your team, then you're not going to win games - because you're focusing on the egocentric idea of "well I played the best so this loss isn't my fault". The majority of players with such an attitude actually screw over their teams because they play too safe, they refuse to defend objectives or help because they're afraid of dying.

But, it's a team game, and I can win my lane but if the others lose, I lose the LP too.

Because you lost the game.

In Match #3, I advised Yasuo to hug tower. He said "I'd rather die than not even try to farm."

And that's his right. You are not a coach. You don't necessarily have the right ideas all the time. His opinion was that he was behind in farm and needed to farm. At this point you can either advise him on proper farming under tower (either 2T+1AA or 1AA+1T+1AA depending on minion type and stage of game), or you can attempt to assist him in killing the laner/jungler so he is able to return to farming without worrying about dying. If you instead just let him suffer, when it was clear he was not going to stop farming, when there's likely something you could've done to help, that's on you. Again, it doesn't matter your KDA. So what if you go die in his lane - but he gets a kill and 20 more CS off of it? Sure, you may fall a bit behind. But the team now has two people that are ahead instead of just you.

I'm only 1 of 4 people, after all, and while I can advise of strats, I can't make them follow it.

Right, and I'm sure they feel the same way about you. You may advise him "sit under tower". He may be thinking "why the hell isn't he coming up to help me, these are easy kills". Even as support or ADC, there are games in which it makes sense to go top-side for a wave or two to assist your laner. If you notice professional players, they actually spend very little time in their respective lanes compared to what most people in lower leagues do which is just camp out in their lane, then scream when they keep dying and falling behind (or their team does). If your team is falling behind, you're falling behind, thus your strategy isn't working and you should change it.

One of the tips I can give you, to solidly carry a game; Focus on one lane, and only up to three champions in that same lane.

Every time you play a different lane or champion, you forfeit most of the experience from the last game you have played. I see you played at least three different positions in those past games, that is already a red flag for learning to improve and hard-carry. In addition to that, not in any of the two games you've played the same champion more than twice. That is a second red flag.

You need to be aware that Silver elo is all about mastering your champion. In your elo, counter-picks and counter-builds are hardly of any relevance yet, you just got to know your champion well enough to carry the game. From your match history, you're going into ranked with a casual mentality, resulting your game performance to lie at the mercy of your other team-mates. If you really want to grow and solo-carry a game, play the same champion and same lane over and over (unless your champion gets banned, but that's where backup picks are for).

I've been doing this for a while, playing different champions and switching between jungle/adc/mid very often in Ranked. This caused me to constantly sway stuck between B2-S4. Now I've been focussing on Twitch, and ONLY Twitch, I've been doing nothing but growing now and I'm nearing S2 promo's.

Notice how when you lose your KD isn't as high as when you win, which means your individual performance is affected by your team. If you are so worried about KDA, then you should be able to keep a somewhat consistent KDA even when your team feeds.
