Reported for BM: Why am i getting in trouble for using mastery emote?

FF TO JOIN lSLAM·1/9/2016, 6:28:50 AM·10 votes·6,554 views

Whenever i play TahmKench and i know the enemy will die in my belly, i spam laugh and mastery emote. I also sometimes type a "?" in all chat. That is the extent of my BM. I don't go into chat and rage at people or say how bad they are, just laugh and emote. Yet, even so, I've been reported and gotten a message saying how i don't "fall inline with the summoner's code" twice. Why am i getting punished for something that Riot has made available for everyone, and that i earned through playing and getting good at my favorite champion in the game?

EDIT: I also use the the mastery emote as I die, as a "im level 5 but still garbage lol". its not like i only use it to rub in peoples' faces like some arrogant douche to be like "look how much better I am than you!", especially when playing tahm, who steamroll so easily and is easy to play.

If you use the emotes excessively, that's punishable.

Troll Armada1/9/2016, 6:53:14 AM7 votes

That's not toxic. Out of all the BS posts I've seen, this is clearly not toxic and so therefore I am skeptical.... how exactly have you gotten "in trouble"

oh wait forgot.

Yeah, man, quit making people feel bad by abusing in game laughter in a way it was not meant to be used. You must have missed that part of the summoners code:

#4 Enjoy Yourself, but not at Anyone Else's Expense http://gameinfo.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/game-info/get-started/summoners-code/

If you want to use laughter against a enemy, you should ask prior in order give you consent to laugh. Otherwise, you're basically imposing your joy on them and making their experience uncomfortable.

Warning popups are meant to remind people to be civil; they have an intentionally higher false positive rate (because that also means they have more absolute true positives) and do not discard false reports as strictly as the punishment system. I doubt that you're going to receive punishments purely for what you are describing.

Reporting does not equal punishment

you can get reported for anything, doesn't mean you need to care

As long as you didn't actually do anything punishable, there's really no reason to care at all

Doesn't matter if you're not typing griefing words, you're still abusing in-game comunication to rub your victory in peoples faces

Doesn't matter how many times you've been reported, if you truly did nothing punishable then who cares.

If you are spamming emotes and champion mastery lvl 5 you basically are saying to them LOL I JUST KILLED YOU LOOK IM LVL 5 WITH THIS CHAMP I MUST BE GOOD. Thats the only message I get when a tahm does that to me. You're right that champion is very easy to play so I don't think you should spam that all the time because people get irritated

The Bearded Bard1/9/2016, 7:57:14 AM2 votes

Yeah I'ma go with that's too much. If people really get upset over emote spamming they should probably just isolate themselves from all society.

BeatzBoyFTW1/9/2016, 10:17:35 AM2 votes

Spamming emotes like Mastery to your opponents, is similar to how immature adults drop their pants down to show off their bare butt whilst yelling "KISS MY ASS!".

So yes, spamming emotes to enemies face is still reportable.

If you are getting messages but not chat bans then you never got punished? It will send an apparently unclear heads up when your getting more reports than usual, but it is separate from the system that administers the punishment.

Can someone explain that better for me? >.<

As for how bad it is I feel like it's more annoyance to some people than hostile. I'm not a fan of it but I wouldn't report of that was the only thing going on and am pretty sure it would not lead to a ban.

I can see an unsportsmanlike conduct report, and you might want to tone it down a bit (specifically, the all chat thing) but it doesn't seem like something that will get you banned anyway.

You didnt get punished, you just made people mad enough to report you, but you didnt say anything toxic so your fine.

Tahm is a pretty rage inducing champion, so tanky, that shield, SO much damage, and the hellish NOMNOMNOM. Nothing is more rage inducing than being eaten and cant do anything about him wrecking you.

ModPrandine1/9/2016, 8:23:28 PM1 votes

If it's only every now and then then no you can't be punished. However, if you consistently do it even after people have asked you to stop doing it then yes you can be punished as at that point you're just intentionally trying to tick the other people off. Also, if by warning you mean those in-client pop-ups then they don't mean that you're in trouble; they only appear when the system discovers a recent spike in reports against you and is only there to tell you to make sure that your behavior in check.

Chat is also available for everyone

Çhåryzård1/10/2016, 5:48:29 AM1 votes

It could count as unsportsmanlike conduct because you are pretty much teasing the other player and it can be annoying/irritating, but I don't really think it is full blown punishment worthy

Maximum Morde1/10/2016, 5:59:24 AM1 votes

Its just annoying and causes unneeded clutter. Doing it once at the end of a fight, fine. Spamming though, now that's just plain obnoxious and I report people on my team and enemy team for it just like I'd report them for spamming anything else.

Audreeey5/23/2016, 12:32:29 PM1 votes

You probably got a report notification because it made people mad obviously and the system automatically lets you know if in a short time you've been reported repeatedly. Punishment can't be administered in this case unless your chat logs are against code or you afk or something that truly ruins the game. If you're really concerned then shoot Riot an email to ask if you're okay.

As for my opinion, and I think this is the general guideline to it as well, the person spamming the emotes is not at fault. Yes it's a dick move, but it's a taunt and there is literally a taunt button. Also who the hell is getting pissed off and offended because some kid is using in game emotes? I think the person who is probably salty and toxic is the person sitting there getting angrier and angrier at an EMOTE.

Fovere5/23/2016, 1:59:43 PM1 votes

being reported isnt the same as getting in trouble.

Spamming is obnoxious and disruptive to gameplay, so if you're doing it excessively, you both can and should be penalized for it. Whether you actually will or not is another matter.

Itherei7/4/2016, 12:48:08 AM1 votes

I report everyone who spams mastery, laugh or taunt emote. They're being annoying to me, turning a friendly game into a toxic one.

I Like Teemo6/21/2017, 12:23:50 AM1 votes

meh who cares... do whatever you want... ive seen people say things 100x worse and spam and flame and emote all game long and no one see's them getting banned.... you can control+6 all you want

Ctrl+6 better then Alt+F4

Egirl Need Skins1/21/2018, 2:35:32 PM1 votes

I get how this post is 2 years old but, the new Ashe emote called "Was that me?" is basically telling you to do it.

Summonirri9/7/2018, 4:08:41 AM1 votes

if the enemy team reports you in general for this it is just a sign they are garbage at the game and should just uninstall if they handle a little "BM" then maybe they should grow up or uninstall. First of all if you are being "BM" ed its a sign that you are trash at the game and are getting dominated by your enemy. If you are an enemy that is reporting for this you should have suicidal thoughts because you are just that bad at the game. Reporting for this AFTER the enemy team beats you and makes you go 0/12 and then makes you see "DEFEAT" on your screen is just a huge sign you wont climb out of bronze. this account was just banned for this and people like you who are 12 and cant handle anything because your mothers coddled you for all your life need to grow the hell up or just stop playing league it is rated T for Teen anyways.

alasarcher1/9/2016, 1:39:07 PM1 votes

How exactly are you getting punished? You are just getting automated message that you got increase in ammount of reports, in case you are doing something wrong, to calm down. You are in no way punished. Report IS NOT punishment.
