Long bans should not be automatic

Auto bans are automatic, meaning there are no intelligent human beings making the decision as to whether or not a player should be banned. In the current system, for example Player A can harass and bait another Player B into saying something rude in return and then report said Player B. The system then sees that Player B did indeed say a racist/vulgar word and ban Player B for 14 days. Since there was no human to read the other players' chat, Player A goes unpunished while Player B is victimized and becomes even angrier at a system that screwed him over. This has happened to me before, and I have also seen it happen to countless players who normally exhibit good sportsmanship and are fun people to be around.

The automatic system is faster and more consistent. This means that player's better understand their punishment due to the decreased time between abnormal behavior and punishment along with the consistency.

The big issue in the situation you present is that player B is still breaking a rule thus deserved the ban. Saying racist and vulgar things are still against the rules regardless of if you provoked or not.

First of all, the system can tell the difference between cursing and cursing at somebody, otherwise I would be banned right now.

The issue with your example is that Player B is still being an issue for the three players in the game that are not involved. Both Player A and Player B should be punished in this case. The correct thing for Player B to do would be to mute Player A, report him at the end of the game, not mention that he is doing either of those two things, and then move on with his life.

Even if you DO get baited, why use racial slurs?

Plus who's fault is it when you get baited into a trap?

Humans have designed the system to work exactly like that. It is supposed to work like that, it is the exact result that it should produce. So, letting a human decide wouldn't make any different at all. Racists and permanently flaming people get banned, thats the end of it. IF you dont want to get banend, dont flame. It is just that simple. If player B just mutes and reports, player B goes unpunished and Player A doesn't.

Btw, even in your example.. Player A would get punished just the same like player B....

The only thing you need is some form of self control. Some have it, very, very few dont have it and manage to go as far as a 14-day ban. The problem is you, not Player A, not Riot, just you.
