i mean can you ban someone for speaking how they usually speak? I get it that you can't use the F word cuz even tho it's used as a joke the meaning never changes, it's a homophobic word and that's it. However people use the N word for all kinds of stuff. And it's mainly used as "dude". I believe it should only not be permitted when used in a racist context. That should be a direct ban. In case you ask how can riot understand how it's used. It's common sense tbh. Any reports because of the word should be supervised and depending on the context the player should be ok or penalized.

I'm fine with other people using the word if it's not in a racist context.

Just for the context when I say I'm ok with the word im not talking about the hard R. That can't be allowed.

A) There's no realistic way of figuring out what race a given player is. B) Just because one black individual uses the n-word as "dude" doesn't mean another sees it that way. I have a couple black friends who hate it when folks use the n-word, black or otherwise.

Your rationale is perfectly reasonable for the real world, where body language and intent are much more clear. But in a game of League, dealing with strangers on the other side of a computer screen, it's only sane to proceed with caution and respect and to not assume that everybody is on the same page as you.

You wouldn't great a customer at work with "what's up, my n-word", would you?

it's a homophobic word and that's it.

That's not really true though. I'd had a few gay friends who call each other (or themselves) that as almost a casual laugh-if-off thing. That's fine, as is use of the n-word with or without the a -- but it's only fine in the context of an environment where everyone involved is familiar with and okay with that usage. League is not such an environment, and so those words are prohibited in all contexts.

Simple answer: Yes. There's no way to verify whether or not you're black or white or asian or what all else. Nobody gets a free pass to say it. The rules apply the same to everyone.

That depends on how they usually speak. If they're inflammatory, aggressive, negative, defeatist, or litter their speech with hate speech - regardless of whether or not it's used in hateful context - then, yeah, they can totally get banned for it.

However people use the N word for all kinds of stuff. And it's mainly used as "dude". I believe it should only not be permitted when used in a racist context.

If you want to say "dude", just say "dude", dude. It's 1-2 letters shorter, and doesn't have a history of racial discrimination behind it. It's altogether better to not allow hate speech regardless of context, 'cause if it were allowed in casual context, you'd have people inevitably complaining about "unfair/unjust bans" and trying to pass off their use of the word as friendly.

You should not use the n word even when you are black. People didn't have a dream just so you can derogator yourself.

Oddly enough, the 'f' word you're talking(or at least the long version of it) about's official definition has nothing to do with being gay... it is 'a bundle of sticks the size a single person can carry' or something like that - heck, in the UK it even is used to refer to a cigarette, if I recall correctly. Yet, what matters isn't how you mean it or even what it officially means... what matters is how it is perceived. And online, as Djinn says, we're not in an environment where we can know how our allies or enemies are going to perceive our words.

Allowing one race to use a word over another race is racist in itself, is it not?
