Are command line prompts in chat capable of anything?

Was in a champion select screen and another player was typing in ipconfig commands, apparently trying to figure out the other players' ip addresses. He also put out what looked like an executable command. I honestly don't know if his commands were capable of anything, but I DCed and ran a antivirus/malware scan just to be sure. Odds are it was just trolling, but I'd rather take the L than risk it. Anyone else come across this?

Network dude here. He was trying to be cute and clever, and failing at both.

You're fine. :)

I think i'd agree with that assessment. Don't know for sure that commands don't work in the chat, but that'd be a terrible idea if they do.

it was trolling.

IPconfig commands can only be used to test and find IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway for all adapters on your own computer, not someone else's.

much less commands wont run from the chatbox in league, as they need full admin right to even run on any DOS pc.

for the sake of explaining, lets just say he did manage to ping an IP address, it wouldn't be yours, it would be from a riot games server as there is no direct connection between the players without going through a riot server. therefore, if he say, attempted to DDOS you, it would disconnect you from the game due to him knocking an entire server.
