I do not at all mean a simple F you I mean like straight out calling eachother N bombs and the good ol' pile of sticks ;). Is that something I need to watch out for or can I continue calling my friends what we want in DM?
For the most part, it's an opt-in experience, so they don't normally punish for behavior in DMs. That being said, yeah, I'm sure you could still do something punishable in DMs, but if you're not reported for it, then there'd be no reason to punish you.
No. Ive seen posts of people complaining that they added someone and they instantly were called the most offensive things, but couldnt do anything about it because it was in the friends list chat. I believe a Rioter came in and clarified that that is an opt-in experience, and is not monitored due to it being your choice to talk to someone on your friends list. 99% sure that you cant be reported or I should say punished for it.
Unless your friend is taking screenshots to report you then private messages are private and not directly subject to punishment.
I believe it's only bannable if he submits a ticket to report you and references your DM's as the reason why he reported you. I think the automated system only checks the games that you actually got reported in. But I wouldn't be surprised if the system has a way to automatically scan your DM's as well.

No report no punishment.
There was one instance of a player getting banned on multiple accounts for what they sent by DM. So, don't use the guise of "friendship" if you're going to harass someone. But, if they really are your friend, you can sling those slurs without worry. There is even a whisper function that you can use during games.
As long as you're not communicating anything illegal you will be completely fine.
