Perma bans for being TOXIC should be removed

Permanent bans for being only toxic seems unreasonable, why does the game have a mute button if riots just gonna ban all the toxic ones anyways? Rather than perma banning people for just being toxic, CHAT BAN THEM. More often than not, people are toxic ONLY because of DUMB PLAYERS ruining their games by trolling/griefing.summoner 6 {{summoner:51}} DrMundo

They tried chat banning, the problematic people deadset on being toxic were just toxic in other ways.

They tried chat banning, but it didn't work. It just lead to toxic people inting and griefing games. Permaban is the last action taken against people who choose not to reform even when given multiple opportunities to. If you break the rules, that is what happens. Permabans for toxic people should absolutely stay.

  1. The mute button is not a get out of jail free card and is meant to be a band-aid solution at most.
  2. Riot tried perma-mutes in the form of infinite chat restrictions. What they found was not only did that not help with reform but most people with them just resorted to gameplay-related means of griefing their teammates instead. From Riot Tantram:

It really breaks down into two categories.

1.) Helping players reform 2.) Shielding others from the behavior, at a cost.

We used to issue chat restrictions that essentially scaled indefinitely.

We were able to determine that after a certain point the penalty no longer helped with reform. The 10-game and 25-game counts for chat restrictions are based on data that they were both light enough, and felt strict enough to encourage people to understand their behavior is unacceptable in game and change it.

We also saw that the players in this 'large restriction' category defaulted to gameplay altering means of harassing their team. It caused an increase in feeding and trolling.

The sample size of this population and time frame is huge. Essentially the time spanning from the introduction of chat restrictions to the introduction of IFS.

So my question for you is, would you rather have more feeders and less negative chat?

If someone isn't gonna behave properly despite being given multiple chances to do so then why shouldn't they be removed from the game?

Stop being toxic please.

You know how many times I've been in a game and a toxic player lead to another player afking or griefing?

Too many.

While the powder keg exploding is terrible being the person to light the spark is absolutely worse.

Let me guess, you got perma'd?

Chat banning doesn't work, people will just troll in games, instead of flaming.

Imperial Pandaa1/10/2019, 7:57:58 PM3 votes

To nit pick, trolling is toxic as well. There is verbal toxicity and gameplay toxicity.

Mute button does exist, but so does the backspace and esc key to not even send the message. Does that mean you think people using hate speech or encouraging things like suicide should be allowed to act like so?

Meh. Flaming is the lesser of two evils and much easier to detect. So if you permachat-ban players, they will resort to the harder to detect griefing and trolling to express their emotions. Thats exactly what happened when they used to do permachat-bans, apparently.

Toxicity leads to tilt, distraction, and in some cases even trolling or inting. And sure, I can mute it, but if Player A is toxic and it impacts Player B's performance, I can't do shit with a mute button if I'm Player C.

i 100000% agree with you despite all the downvotes. maybe like a perma chat restriction would make more sense but a perma ban for literally saying words is ridiculous.

People who are toxic do not belong on multiplayer games.

If you are toxic, and you make someone feel horrible, I don't care how bad they are, you don't deserve to play.

This is a game, meant to escape from real life problems, not deal with new ones.

I will support the ban no matter what, for as long as I'm playing any multiplayer game.

End of discussion.

This is a huge problem for the INTERNET as a whole. LOL is just the largest cancer glob in the body. (the body being the internet) I've been using the "WWW" since people actually called it the World Wide Web and not the Internet. Back when dial up was it. In those days it was super rare to have a negative interaction on a bbs or similar chat site. As time went on and the internet grew more and more, toxic mean people figured out just how much they could get away with cause they were basically untouchable. Fast forward to present day and this game is a perfect example of something that is supposed to be NOTHING but PURE FUN for all and it for sure as hell isn't and its because of 1 thing. This piss poor community. The people. Young and old so lets not try to blame kids here. The toxicity issue is continuing to get worse and it right now, not later, needs to be taken care of. Riot has proven they are ineffectual in handling the situation, or giving a damn. So the solution to making the toxicity drop is not to lessen the punishments but to increase them, or find solutions that actually work. I want the internet cleaned up so bad I like the idea of somehow fining people IRL money for this kind of crap. Harassment is harassment whether its here or irl. The charges should be similar in my eyes. Thats not going to happen sadly, but something does need to. A huge problem with this game is that everyone can and has made several side accounts for whatever reason. I have 1 sepereate account, but that is only so i could get the champs I want in aram cause its hard to when you have 60 champs and most suck at aram. Aside from that there is no none nefarious reason to have a separate account just for yourself. At least that I can think of. Feel free to add a non nefarious reason below. So if you ban these people they just move to a new account again and again...etc.etc. Apparently it needs to be FAR more difficult to get more than 1 account. Especially now that I'm pretty sure they changed which champs appear in aram because as I said I have over 60 champs and I only see the useful ones now. Maybe i'm wrong and just lucky. Might need to as far as banning IP addresses. If that screws family members so be it. Shouldn't have raised your kid to be a dick or let your siblings be dicks. Can't let the whole word burn cause your afraid punishing a person will harm someone else.

Ok sure but why1/14/2019, 5:48:45 AM1 votes

I love how about 99% of people who get chat-banned got it from "feeding the trolls."

UnknownTerritory1/11/2019, 12:48:24 AM1 votes

If you make chat restrictions bigger and they are no bans. You will make a huge chaos in the game. Nobody will care of getting banned because they are no bans and they will flame and troll trough the whole game. "Bans" play special role in discipline yourself. When you are banned for toxic behavior you will understand your mistakes and you wont do it again.[leblanc-funny]
