Broken Report System

Now, let me start off by saying I am no saint. I try my best to be a good, level-headed player, but I do on occasion blow up and flame people, like most people do. I usually trust the report and punishment system to do a good job in carrying out 'justice' and the like. But after what I experienced today, I've lost some faith in it.

Let me start off by saying that I'm upset because I got a chat restriction. I'm not so upset that I have restricted chat, but more upset that I was the one punished in the first place.

I was in a match earlier where our jungle was a little... snarky, let's say. I asked for a gank and he immediately responds with something along the lines of "Sorry, I'm busy ganking our actually GOOD laners." Now, I didn't handle this very well, and wrote "Gee, must be nice to have an actual jungler" in /all. Fast forward to late game, our jungler is sitting in base dancing, taunting, and just following me around without leaving base and not defending. I ask the other team in /all chat to report him for his behavior - and instead the pre-made group of three on the other team keep egging him and myself on, saying things like "Wow you're being so toxic to him for no reason, he doesn't deserve to be reported, I'm reporting you after," etc. All the while they're not ending the game because they said "it's more fun for us" that way.

I just don't understand how I get chat restricted for trying to get one person reported for bad behavior. I obviously did not handle that in the best way either, but I really do not feel like I should have been chat restricted for trying to get a person reported for very obviously breaking the code of conduct of the game. I'm not trying to get it appealed or anything, I'm just mildly irritated by this and wanted to rant.

Harassing other players, regardless of if you think their behavior is bad, is not acceptable.

I'll break this into two parts; one for the topic at hand, and the other for future use.

  1. The system doesn't measure who is the worse behaved in game. Everyone is judged for their own behavior, it doesn't matter if someone else is behaving in a way you don't agree with. You should also note that 1 report does the same as 9; this is a coding matter for simplicity. Id you want to share your logs we might be able to point out the finer details for your punishment. Off hand, it seems to be for passive aggression and asking for reports.

  2. There is a Rant sub board for yelling to the void. I don't personally go there to browse, but in theory it is less for discussion and more for venting. You did post in the right section if you would like to discuss this though.

Last clarification as to avoid potential confusion. My blue name does not make me a Riot employee. I am just a normal board community member that has typically been level headed and somewhat knowledgeable in this particular section of the boards.

this is a VERY poor assumption

Youre leaving out details, and reports for toxicity are only done if youve been reported atleast 4 times by different players in your last 20 games, and 2ndly, bad behavior/toxicity isnt tolerated by ANYONE, weather you started it or not. If they were toxic and you dont trust the system, you can always make a direct ticket to support and have a person look into their chat logs, they will get punished but you will still keep your restrictions because you did participate. Toxicity is one thing, but directed toxicity at players tends to always be punished. Victim or not, started or or ended it.

Sounds like you need to learn what a mute feature is for.... kek
