So let me see if I understand Riot Husker's recent post about "Asking players to report a troll"

The above is the link to the post in question. For those who do not wish to read through it, the general gist of the post is that it is a punishable offence to ask other players to report someone, for any reason. Riot Husker believes that each individual player in the game must come to their own conclusion to report someone for anything that ranges from telling someone to kill themselves in real life as an extreme case, or more general cases such as AFKing in base or intentionally feeding.

So in my understanding, this opens up a new door for trolls. Let's say hypothetically somebody decides he wants to troll a ranked game and intentionally feed down mid lane. His teammates are obviously going to be very upset about this, correct? I mean why wouldn't they be, it's a ranked game and now they're going to lose their LP without a fighting chance. Their initial reaction would be; this dude definitely needs to be punished right? What's the enemy team's initial reaction? Hell yeah, free, quick win in 20 minutes and i'll move right onto the next game. Many players understand that this is the mindset of the enemy team during these occurrences, and it definitely is true. Majority of players only report when they personally felt they were negatively impacted by a player's actions. Unless a Rioter can provide statistical evidence otherwise, I'm going to stand by that.

However, this brings me to my point of confusion; if it is indeed punishable to ask for example, the entire enemy team in all chat to report your intentionally feeding teammate; wouldn't it then be possible for the intentionally feeding teammate to further negatively impact his team by reporting his teammates who ask the enemy team to please remember to report their intentional feeder? The troll has nothing to lose from doing this, and also opens up an additional window of opportunity for him to negatively impact his teammate's game experience. From what I gather while reading Riot Husker's post, he considers it bullying to ask others to report somebody for doing something wrong. That everyone needs to come to their own individual decision on reporting the player in question. How is asking others to submit a report against somebody's intentional wrongdoing considered bullying the guilty party?

Dude, there is no reason to ask it. Only 1 report per game counts. I dont know why its so complicated to understand. You get nothing to gain from opponents reporting him....

Everything he said is right. The system determines separately between that hypothetical player's intentional feeding and harrassment in the form of calling for reports. There is no reason to ask for reports because as long as you don't abuse the report system and have report weight, your report will trigger a review of the player's behavior.

Now, you're probably thinking, "but he deserves to be called out." It's the system's job to identify toxic players and deal with them acordingly; it's your job to report and not contribute to a negative atmosphere.

I hope that helps clarify your views of Riot Husker's comments!

Why should they need to ask for reports though? It only takes one report to get a game reviewed. The players on the feeder's team can report him because those are their clients. They can't ask the other team's players to do so; that's up to their discretion. If they view what the guy is doing as reportable, they'll report him.

or even worse. griefers subtly troll. but only do things that would effect one player, in an attempt to try and bait them into either flaming them or asking for reports, such as ignore a particular players pings but otherwise play normal, passive aggressively mock someone in a way where it's only obvious to the player being mocked, intentionally feed, but only give up 1 or 2 kills to the enemy laner of the person you want tilted and then play normally. this is a VERY common occurence, also asking for reports, while riot has condemned as harassment. they have done NOTHING to alleviate players belief that it doesnt actually doing anything, as we have nothing other than riot's word that multiple reports dont stack which considering the tribunal, sandbox mode, solo queue and returning teambuilder, doesnt mean much. and hidden report weight's very existence alone provides a logical reason to report call. as riot wont say what determines a "false report" for all we know, there's no such thing, and report weight is simply determined based on how often someone reports, not whether they were actually valid, and the more you report the less they end up being worth. so what is a player going to do if they think they have low report weight simply due to volume of reports? BOOM. report call. if a player feels like someone really deserves to get banned. theyre going to roll the dice anyway and ask for reports. as they have no reason to believe it wont make a difference.

No, it doesn't.

Those doors were opened a long time ago. I mean, the FAQ explaining this, shows a picture of mid lane Morgana with a mana pot.

It's THAT old.

people use it against players who dont actually deserve punishment. like ive seen the top lane have a bad start 0-2 and then some kid says 'report top trolling and feeding'. now the top player feels attacked and likely will have to try to defend himself which leads to an argument and more toxicity.

Basically the players troll around trying to get you to "flame" them. Then they cry to the report system. Rito is not smart enough to address the original offenders, so that's why the game isn't getting any better in terms of "toxicity".
