Why do we lose honor for chat bans?

So I got a 10 game chat restriction for some very mild chat in a single game back in June. I was almost honor level 3.

Now before you go and call me a liar just know you're wrong. It was very mild chat. All that was said was "fuck this I don't care if we lose then." This was in response to a troll running it down mid in a ranked game.

I contacted Riot support and they told me that my negativity was not very severe and it was unfortunate I had received a chat ban. They said there was nothing they could do about the loss of my honor. They acknowledged that the reform card was very mild.

In fact, the Riot games people I spoke to on the support Zendesk thing told me to come here and post about this issue. So here I am.

YET I STILL LOST MY HONOR.

Riot says the chat bans are meant to be warnings. Fair enough. Losing honor is not a warning. It takes FOREVER to build up honor. Losing honor for a 10 game chat ban with no warning whatsoever is insanely harsh of a punishment.

In fact, it would be faster for me to level up a brand new account and get gold/plat again than it would be to continue playing on my main and reach honor level 2 from honor level 1.

Don't get me wrong. If I had been banned for saying "kys" or racial slurs or something extreme and it was a 14 day ban then sure that's justified. I don't think a first offense, admittedly mild offense at that, warrants MONTHS of work to rebuild honor.

I understand there are rules. Rules get broken. If I get pulled over for going 5 mph over the speed limit I get a warning. Why? Because I pretty much never get tickets. Even police officers are smart enough to know that good people make mistakes. Why is this system so Draconian?

It is 100% unfair for a first "warning" to be this severe. You may as well just delete the damn accounts on the first offense because it is easier to level a new one than to fix the honor.

You didn't read what support said. They would not have said it was "unfortunate" but not reverted the punishment.

You weren't punished for "mild" chat. That doesn't exist. You were punished for negativity. Until you accept that, you'll not even try to improve your attitude, so there's not much point in trying to help you right now. I hope you realize that you were in the wrong and actually try and change before you get permanently banned, because no matter how "mild" you think it is, keeping up any punishable behavior may end in a permanent ban

No idea. I got Chat Restr. for 5 games for saying "How are you losing against gragas support" lmao which I still think was a pretty valid question since they were running cait/raka I think? And then second game after calling out our JG for trolling. Went all the way down to Honor 0 and finally, after like a 2 months I think? Idk I think it happened in July but I finally got back to Honor 2.

Just insta mute before the game even starts. I like to know what my team has to say and it sucks, but half the time people only use the chat to flame. If anyone is trolling my game I like to unmute really quick to catch them being toxic or something. Take a screen cap with my phone and send it over to riot if I don't see that Instant Feedback report. Tribunal really sucks and isn't good at all, but its better that you tried so you can hold it against riot later than to have it lost forever. Sorry you're restr. It sucks and makes me not wanna play anymore either.

its pretty easy to get back to honor 2, just never type the following words the system scans for: afk, report, mute, trash, gg ez, any obvious curse words, open, ff, monkey, dog, ape, boosted (YES U CANT EVEN CALL THEM BOOSTED WHEN THEY ARE SWAP SUMS KEY), garbage, any negative words fully typed, if u wanna use them shorten them and it gets through free (shorten them alot, like fuck to fk, bitch is still scanned if u typed btch for example) hmu in league if u want creative ways to insult people without even triggering the slightest system alert im honor 4 1/3 and im pretty aggressive in chat

Because they consider their rules honorable, and not honoring their rules is dishonorable.

I had a toplaner who don't type prob has chat turned off, start mid lane and take all my farm while I was stealing the enemy jungler's blue, I typed just incase he was confused. I'm mid and plan on coming mid after blue, u r top incase you queued mid/top and was unsure. He stayed, typed nothing stole the lane and left it froze at enemy turret. He then went top seemingly just intime to catch his wave b4 it hit turret as if he has done this b4 and has his timings planned out. Nice. I was playing a tank mid into melee mage. Was screwed, mentioned to the remainder of the teammates sorry but my laning phase is over thanks to the troll. and bot lane said serves u right for playing a troll pick, at which point they made clear they were going to report me at end of game for my laning choice. So I threw out a curse at top for intentionally screwin my lane and a curse or so at bot for straight up tellin me they scapegoating my champ pick. Then I reported the game via support. Got chat ban, lost honor from 4 to 0. nobody in the support conversation said feels bad man to me. but at least they made me aware of something I always wanted but didnt know they had yet made, which is a turn off allied chat in settings. If i'd known that years ago. but then I don't know when they got around to making it. oh well now I know. And no chat no problems. except for the non verbal ones. I have pings turned off too.

edit: i've been playing this game when a friend made me aware of it prob season 1 or 2. Dunno exactly when it would have been. Never got a warning of any kind that i'm aware of for anything, ban of any kind for anything. Only respond to people usually that initiate me, though we all have our moments :P I prob never get my honor back cause I never played this game day after day after day. The community always made me feel uncomfy logging into this thing. Often have just done netflix instead. Have taken a year off b4 just cause. prob do so again.

Losing honor for chat offenses is okay. Getting banned from the game is the real issue.
