Are Ranked games more Toxic then Normal games?

I really don't play ranked game that often, however when I do, I feel like there are a lot more toxic players & I'm shooting out reports almost every other game. I'm not usually the target but every once & a while it happens to me too.

The last game I played was with a nasty soraka when we started they has already decided we had lost, & even though I had originally been winning lane (like I was 4/0) the rest of the team was losing. They then decided to make the game even worse by verbal abuse. Mostly directed at me. they called me a hoe & constantly made nasty comments about my playing which ultimatly caused me to play worse. Normally I ignore it & ask the other team to report too, but today I was having a bad day so it got to me.

Afterwards I talked to a friends who was in that game & asked them if they reported her like I requested. He told me no he didnt cause 1. he thought there anger was justified cause they were angry they were losing ( despite the fact that they were clearly harassing) 2.** He had muted her (missed half the conversation) & said reporting doesn't deter that kind of behavior**.

I began to wonder, do players in ranked normally take this approach & essentially ignore the issue? Could this be why the ranked community is so toxic? I would really like to play more ranked games, but the amount of verbal abuse really kills the game & I'm tired of it. If this is what is happening, I wish there was more incentive for players to report during ranked games. Like maybe chat behavior in ranked has more sever punishment or if a person gets so many abuse report in a certain time period they get a 12 hour ban or something
