Transparent Honor system

I have not been able to find anything on how exactly the honor ranks work. Not some vague you get to step 1 2 3 and level up. I've never leveled up past level 2 in a year of play. I did a few toxic things and received discipline which I agree with and I'm a much improved player (I just mute all if a feel upset and don't take it out on others, now). I've reached "step 1" on rank zero, but I have no idea how this works? It cannot be on honors received after games cause I've actually been receiving a lot due to explaining builds and game mechanics in a new non-toxic way. If its purely time gated, or something else that's fine. I just want transparency not any changes, nor am I complaining about the punishment I deserved.

Riot hasn't shared a lot on exact requirements for Honor progression. All they've said is that if you try to win every game, you continue to increase in honor. Who knows what that means. Does that mean if a person reports me, I don't get honor? Or do I actually lose honor?

We do know that if everyone on the team honors somebody, you get a small increase to your honor reward. Again, we don't know how much that is, but we can be sure it's very small. I also believe if a teammate honors you, you get a small bump above your normal game completion progress.

It took me about 3 months to get from post-punishment Honor 0 back to 2, playing about 15-20 matches/week.

As long as you're playing non-negative games, then you're fine. You'll progress even if you don't say anything. Your progress is impeded if you're negative. That can be frustrating if you're "stuck" and you're not sure why, but you can still be negative but below the threshold of being punished. If you feel you haven't been negative and you play regularly, then you should at least be seeing progress every month (it's shorter than that, but that's a safe bet).

If any of that sounds innaccurate or doesn't describe your progress, then you can contact Riot and ask them what's slowing you down.

Your goal for climbing in honor is to have no valid reports. A climb from honor 2 to honor 5 is supposed to take nearly the entire season. That's pretty much all the transparency we're every going to get, as Riot doesn't want people to learn how to game the honor system. We're supposed to earn honor by being honorable, not by having a gauge or set of visible requirements.
