Chat Ban?

Does riot even see the game to have context on the chat? Also, can you get banned 10 games over 1 game only? I thought it was 3 games.. Can you get chat restricted on a game where you were playing solo and got 2 honors after the game ended? Because I think that's absurd... I was playing this game and i had a duo bot that was feeding their asses off. Enemy invaded and instead of backing they tried to kill one enemy 2v5 because he had only 250 hp at that point.. Ok, whatever, happens, (I'm mid veigar) after i ping them inumerous time to back and they don't listen and die bot to my laner again once again because the enemy was low at that point so they went all in and they both died for nothing in return. They were playing 2 adc's in botlane and they were just spamming in all chat and asking for reports because I didn't follow or whatever. I got 2 honors from the other 2 guys, I'm guessing I was actually doing work? Even though i was playing against a fed laner caused by teammates greed. In the mid game they were canceling autos for me to die and they get the kill after. And I'm the one that gets chat restricted? Was this a mistake or? I don't think i said anything offensive (in my opinion, but feel free to help me figure out text below), was everything critical to their gameplay (e.g. i dind't insult them, just said they were playing bad i guess) Is spam surrender AN OFFENSE? Because I was spamming surrender but giving my best, I wasn't letting people die on purpous like they were doing. Even the enemy team said report mf and xayah post game... And I get chat restricted.

Riot does look at context, however they don't support negative chat in retaliation to negative chat or gameplay. If someone is trolling you, your role is to report it to Riot, not take matters into your own hands and chat the whole game about it.

Yes you can get a chat restrict off of one game, as a chat restrict is the lightest form of punishment and the first on their tier of punishments.

Yes you can get punished after a game where 2 or more people honored you. That would be ridiculous if honor just meant you can get away with anything during the game as long as someone honors you at the end. I don't see the absurdity, and infact I think it would be absurd if you couldn't get punished just because 2 people honored you.

"Spamming" surrender is not an offense, as long as you aren't constantly telling people it's hopeless and threatening them to surrender in some way, which you did not do.

As far as you saying anything offensive, no I don't see anything offensive. It's almost all negative and antagonizing, though. This is frowned upon and Riot will punish for constantly ragging on teammates.

This is purely an informative post, and in no way reflects my views or opinion on Riots punishment system. Hope it helps clear up any confusion.

You can also send a support ticket to Riot and they may be able to help you further understand or maybe even reverse your punishment (though that is very rare).

The punishment tiers are:

  • 10 game chat restriction
  • 25 game chat restriction
  • 14 day suspension
  • permanent suspension

The punishments escalate, so your next punishment after this would be a 25 game chat restriction (assuming it is not for hate speech or telling someone to harm themselves or others)

There are other things that the IFS doesn't like in your chatlog, but I'll focus just on this one issue.

No one else needs to know what's going on when you're not getting along with someone. It creates drama and turns the people who could calm down and work with you into your enemies. Once negativity is out in the chat, the barest minimum of teamwork goes out the window and you work against them, they work against you.

A. Bringing up other's misdeeds in chat hurts your chance of winning.

Also, saying that you're reporting someone, that someone is doing something report worthy (like flaming or inting in this example), asking for others to report someone, or saying someone is going to be banned for their actions are all threats against someone's account. Just because it's true doesn't make it less of a threat. All threats are considered negative by the IFS.

B. The IFS doesn't like threats.

One report is all it takes. One report does everything that 9 report does.

C. There is no benefit to getting others to report alongside your report.
