To Umbral Regent
I saw your discussion on an earlier locked thread and after seeing prior posts a couple of weeks ago about trying to make the player behavior section more tolerant towards punished players or players offering alternate, less favorable viewpoints I'd like to say you did a really good job of handling the entire thing. It was unfortunate that no resolution was possible but you did very well in addressing the issues as they were and not as you perceived them to be. You kept it as impersonal as possible and displayed no hostility until absolutely necessary.
I wrote a post a long time ago with the same mentality as some of these people, not understanding why I was punished for reacting, and when I look back at it I see how much better my life has become after learning to filter out that negative energy. If you had done the same thing then as you did now, it wouldn't have taken me so long to realize that I was kicking myself in the butt the whole time. Many people that come here will not receive your advice willingly, and that can create aggravation that may make you question whether you should even bother. But back then when I posted my question of punishment, I was met with semi-snide remarks that did not help me because they put me on the defense. What you're doing now is something that I could have used back then to help me understand that even though I was punished, people would still listen to me as a person, rather than a dejected target.
Keep it up. I like that the interactions are longer and more explanatory than some of the previous moderator responses. It may be a huge waste of time for a lot of the cases, but you might be able to actually change someone's understanding of how the world is and how it should be. Make them feel valued and important, on the off chance that the only thing they really want is someone to acknowledge their existence.
