How am I not allowed to defend myself?

Just got a 14 days ban. How? The Draven in my team began flaming almost everyone and all the others allowed him to pick on them but not me, I VERBALLY defended myself against this toxic moron and I get punished. He wanted to be a tough guy and he thinks he has some kind of power. He has no power over me and I gave him what he deserved. Seriously the system is f*cked, this isn't kindergarten this is a game jesus christ. Why would I EVER allow a toxic asshole to have some kind of power over me? The system benefits toxic people so those of us that aren't toxic get banned so you have nothing but toxicity left. I have NEVER flamed players who are playing badly and/or feeds, never. I only flame people who flame others or me.

Defense does not involve repeating what they said or lowering yourself to a standard which would get you punished.

You have one way to "defend" yourself against chat: Mute. This is the 100% perfect defense, absolutely unbeatable by the aggressor.

If you must, you can calmly respond in a manner that doesn't violate the ToS you agreed to. I have done this from time to time, and can safely say it doesn't get you punished.

so you followed up his petty shallow ego with your own petty shallow ego and got in trouble for it.

Sounds about right.

Haven't you ever heard the phrase "don't feed the trolls"? It's been a popular internet mantra for at least what, fifteen or twenty years?

Your logic is completely backwards. There's no satisfaction gained by flaming somebody. The satisfaction they're looking for, and the satisfaction you're giving them, is in the negative reactions they're able to provoke out of you. Muting IS the correct response.

Good Riddance.

What power did he have over you?

It seems to me he had no power until you decided to retaliate with flame. You then gave him power over the only thing relevant to this game, your account.

You are allowed to defend yourself. Muting the offender is one way of doing that.

You are not allowed to retaliate or to add any negativity or toxicity to the game.

I'm just upset that the system works in this way where toxicity is rewarded and verbally defending yourself is punished.

You might want to think this through before making such claims.

The sad thing is, the Draven who was doing all the flaming probably never got punished. The system is designed to protect the trolls, and punish those who retaliate. Working as intended.

Yes you are.

zero tolerance.

The system doens't look at other players, just at your own and no reasons exclude you from the rules of the game. Defending yourself is one thing but if you got banned it means you were being toxic, swearing or verbally abusing others which is against the rules no matter what. In addition that that you are blatantly lying about your behavior, the 14 day ban is a third offense of toxic behavior meaning you've already had two punishments that total up to 35 games of chat restriction.

Another note that i'd like to make is that your defense is that you didn't want to let the guy have power over you but in fact he did, as you verbally fought back and gave him the satisfaction of getting a reaction out of you, you let him win. He had enough power over you to make you lash out at him instead of ignoring him. You lashed out and got punished for it.

In advance when you meet people like this online, simply ignore them or laugh as you'll report them after the game but in responding back and lashing out, risking your own account all you do is let in and let him win.

Screenshot your reform cards and post them and I'll tell you how.
