i am at the point where i consciously realise when i become Toxic as in even if i have something positive and helpful to say there is no way for me to phrase it fast and well enough that it would be interpreted as such(team perspective factors into this) and yes sometimes i rage as in i have to correct strategic assumptions that are wrong from my perspective but well before this point im usually using the /mute all. * let me start again. i am huge into the honor system and i have an effective method of consistently obtaining honor and thats by playing my very best and never talking. the more u say the more u alienate your team even if your calls are on point i find. but sometimes i cant stop myself from talking and giving orders like i lack self control even if im carrying hard i know my team is more likely to listen to me so i make calls, sometimes right sometimes very very wrong but my point is i recognize the times when my talking achieves something and when it will just make team like me less and the time i use /mute all is when i should alsomute myself but there is NO WAY to do this, i tried unbinding chat command cant do it.. i know what your,e gona tell me just be self control and i wish i could but im not perfect and id love a mute self command ramble over

*this is such a ramble but i have a point here.

I can fully understand implementing this being a good thing to reduce chat toxicity.

However, Riot has found that when people are restricted from chat in any way (be it a complete mute, a permanent chat restriction, etc) that they tend more often than not to just be negative in gameplay. Maybe they make bad plays because they're mad they can't flame in chat, maybe they simply troll instead because their flaming can't be seen.

While I know some people have good intentions, the data suggests that this feature would cause toxicity to move from easy-to-detect chat violations to harder-to-confirm gameplay violations (inting/trolling/intentional bad plays). For that reason I can't support it.

Now, you're more than welcome to drag the chat box off the screen. Or, maybe, have a friend message you when you start the game. Then you can just preface all your negativity with /r (insert negativity) and then it'll go to them, not to the game. Obviously continue to work on self control, as that's the best way to be more positive.

Best advice I have: Figure out the underlying reason you're getting angry about the videogame - are you too into it, are you addicted, do you have a need to be right/win? None of those are bad. They're not abnormal. What's bad is not doing something about it. Maybe decrease your game time. Maybe take a 30 minute break between games. Maybe just have a stress ball irl to use when you're angry. But fix the underlying reason you get so worked up and you won't be toxic anymore :)

i like this idea because it will not affect the majority of players at all other than maybe them seeing a few less comments in chat. the minority of conscious individuals who would like to protect our sensitive teammates from our semi abrasive influence when under pressure but lack the self control to enforce this practice 100% of the time would fine a self mute button useful. in a mechanical sense the button would have to apply until the game was over and then reset otherwise a mad player would simply unmute themselves and then type.
